Well, if you ask for it, or don't sign the CDW because you don't have an unowned vehicle rider or policy, it becomes part of the contract you sign. I guess they should tell you, but I don't know why a person would sign the contract without reading the payments due. Besides, the rate has always been disclosed to me before I declined. I always decline because I purchase a short-term policy which is far more comprehensive than the coverages I would have from the rental company, at less than half the daily rate. Such policies (vacationer's, or non-owned vehicle policies) are not available from all companies, or even in all states and provinces. Are rental car companies required to verbally disclose the cost per day of any additional insurance?
The word ';verbal'; actually means ';in words'; (as opposed to pictures or gestures). I assume you mean ';orally disclose';.
Normally, they may disclose it in written words without disclosing it orally.
In theory, if you tell them that you have a disability that prevents you from reading written documents, they must accommodate you in some way, such as reading it to you orally, if your request is reasonable. However, if your disability is blindness, then you cannot drive, and simply being illiterate is not a disability requiring accommodation. Therefore, you would be entitled to accommodation only if you had a learning disability that prevented you from reading but did not prevent you from driving.
It's printed on the agreement. I have never had them not explain it to me when I've rented cars.
No, just in writing
