Hi,
I too travel on a tight budget, as although the company pays for everything, I love a deal.
Air travel costs can be kept down by booking well in advance.
Don't rent a car at the destination airport.
The likes of Hertz %26amp; Avis are a rip-off.
Get a cab into town. The cabbie will know of a cheap %26amp; cheerful bloke with cars to rent.
Never stay in a ';chain'; hotel, such as Holiday Inn, Hilton, Sheraton, Howard Johnson, etc.
Always use a family run place, but not grot.
Half the price %26amp; better service.
If you are going long haul somewhere, no probs with service included, but if short-haul, take a hip flask of booze and a bag of muffins.
Best of luck !
BobTraveling on a bugdet, what are some tips you can share I'm flying and will need a rental car?
If your flying on a plane that doesn't offer complimentary snack and drink (who does anymore!?) bring along a small snack and juice box (aluminum/plastic opened bottles not allowed) and snack on those, and if you can avoid ''checking'' any bags, just take a carry on to avoid baggage fees. Go with the most economical/small/compact car the rental place offers.
