Would someone know if i have a rental car?

me and my family is going on vacation this summer. i want to get a rental car but my mom is afraid to. she heard about people getting targeted or having a rental. they know your a vistor and probably have a lot of money. my question is would a rental car be that easy to spot?Would someone know if i have a rental car?
I have never heard of this.... but its probably because most people tend to rent nicer cars... and the nicer cars are the ones that get targeted.

I rented a car when I was in an accident and there was not sticker or other marks on my car indicating it was a rental. In fact, all my neighbors were asking If i bought a new car...

make sure you rent something that isn't high end... just get a nice mid sized family sedan and you'll be fine.Would someone know if i have a rental car?
Car rental companies stopped putting anything on their cars showing it was a rental many years ago. At one time people were being targeted. Mostly in Florida as stated above.

If the rental car is registered in Louisiana then it will have commercial licensee plate on it. Of course any company owned car in Louisiana will have this.

Main thing is, there is nothing to worry about. Rent a reasonable car. Not a big Caddy or top end SUV.
Back in the day, rental cars would have ';different'; license plates---like, in FL, they'd start with W's and anyone would know ';rental car';...ALSO, another BIG GIVE-AWAY would be the sticker on the bumper from the RENTAL COMPANY!

We used to carefully peel it off and then put it on someone else's car---like a mercedes or rolls royce, just for kicks!
In the past some bad guys have targeted rental cars but since then the rental companies have tried to make their cars less obvious. It is difficult to spot a rental these days. Call the companies in advance and ask what they do to hide the fact that it is a rental. Some companies do a better job of hiding than others. Just make sure you are well insured.
You should have no problems with a rental. The make and model is what crooks are looking for. The 'wanted' vehicles. A family sedan is NOT a wanted vehicle.

Have a safe vacation.
Many of todays rentals do not have company stickers. There are a wide variety of choices as well. If a low profile is what your mom desires, rent an economy or mid-size car.
I've never heard of anyone being targeted for having a rental car. I don't think anyone would be able to tell unless they looked closely and saw a sticker from the company or something.
