Road to Hana Tour vs Rental Car own pace?

I am debating if i should take a tour or go and rent a car and go my ow pace.Road to Hana Tour vs Rental Car own pace?
If you are a confident driver then my suggestion is to go at your own pace...I have been many times and the last two times I was the driver...I enjoyed this more than guided tours (I don't like to be told how long I can take to enjoy the scenery and how long I have to have fun)lol...besides my 3 kids and I went up Very early one Sunday Morning for Horseback Riding...(soooo worth getting up early for) we started off at 0630 in order to get up to Hana for a 10 a.m. horseback riding appt. You can take your time and go at your own pace with your own car...otherwise you are playing to the Tour guides Pace. One thing make sure you get out of Hana early enough so you are not on Hana Hwy after dark...SCARY...all those twists and turns...one lane bridges and NO Street lights...YIKES...we got on the road late and it took us over 5 hours to get back to Kaanapali...lol...Aloha and Enjoy.Road to Hana Tour vs Rental Car own pace?
I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
Just remember is driving....there are no rest stops with restrooms, there are not street lights, there one lane bridges, and some of the curves do not have guard rails...the road does narrow alot...

Go at sunrise and leave before sunset! About a 2 hour drive there and 2 hour back...if ya dont stop and enjoy
I agree w/ Michelle. Go it on your own, unless you are a nervous driver.
