when renting a car, you have an option of a full tank of gas or filling the car yourself (in that case, you are charged by mileage)....what if you choose the full tank of gas option, but you used very little gas (say, a quarter tank);since you do not get an refund for unused gas...the next person who rents the car is going to get charged for a full tank of gas!?..even though there is three-quarters tank of gasoline...isn't this practice (policy) bordring on fraud? your views, please...ThanksIs this a symptom of the rental car blues?
The car rental company would top up the gas tank before they rented it to someone else, who would then have the same options that you did: refilling it, or paying the fuel option so they did not have to.
There's no question that the car rental company made money off you (who paid for the full tank, yet didn't use it) but as long as they state that you will not be refunded if you return the car with gas, (which they do) then I don't see how it constitutes fraud.
