In my case, running the pinnumber of the vehicle in carfax.com revealed that it was a rental car.
Used car dealerships buy vehicles from auctions, they usually don't know where they came from, nor do they care.Do used car dealership have to disclose that the car was a rental car in Ohio Law?
nope, a rental car purchased to sell as a used car is no different than an auction car or a private seller car that is bought and sold as a used car.
Ohio is the hub for Enterprise (Cincinnati), so many dealers in Ohio have used cars from them.Do used car dealership have to disclose that the car was a rental car in Ohio Law?
No, but they have to disclose if it has a salvaged title.
Buyers guide:
whether the vehicle is being sold ';as is'; or with a warranty;
what percentage of the repair costs a dealer will pay under the warranty;
that spoken promises are difficult to enforce;
to get all promises in writing;
to keep the Buyers Guide for reference after the sale;
the major mechanical and electrical systems on the car, including some of the major problems you should look out for; and
to ask to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy.
So no, they don't have to tell you it was used as a rental. But running a carfax report should show that information, and might be a good idea.
just ask my brother he says they dont have to tell where they get the cars they get most of theirs from an auction house
