Am I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?

Hi,

My car was a total loss and the insurance company approved several days use of a rental car for me @ $20 per day. I didn't use the rental car at all, I was able to get rides from friends. Am I entitled to that money?

I live int he north east US.

ThanksAm I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?
No, Unfortunately not.....

We are talking about Insurance co. here......... They are here to steal money any and every way possible....Am I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?
the name of the coverage that got approved, was ';rental reimbursement coverage';. If you didn't rent, you aren't entitled to be reimbursed. BUT, if you took a bus or a taxi or paid gas money to someone for a ride, you could submit THOSE receipts to be reimbursed.

Have ';Friends'; write you out a receipt for each ride.
You maybe eligible since in lieu of them paying you $20 a day, you saved them money by using the help of friends/family.

Most companies will reimburse you around $10 per day for not renting a car for just that reason. It saves them money and you get paid vs a rental company. So say for instance they approved a rental for you for 3 days, they would reimburse you $30.

I did that all the time when i handled claims in an insurance company.

call them and find out; good luck
Insurance is intended to indemnify you for your loss. If the insurance company paid you for the rental you would end up profiting from the claim.
No. Had you used a rental car then you could have claimed whatever it costs. You could try putting a claim for expenses incurred in paying your friend for lifts but he would need to give you a receipt.
No, you don't get the money. You were offered the rental car, and you did not avail yourself of the offer. Rather silly on your part. You do not get money in lieu.
No!

(If you insured your home's belonging against theft, and nobody stole anything, would THAT entitle you to money from the insurance company? LOL!)
email me and I will tell you how to get your $20/day from the insurance company.
No. You were entitled to $20 toward a rental car, not cash.
That's funny.
nope...sorry. in cases like this its use it or lose it.

I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?

he only ask me so show him proof if the car was in my name, will this go ticket i got go onto my insurance???I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
the ticket goes on your driving record regardless of what vehicle you may be driving , as to your insurance rates that will be determined by the insurance companyI was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
Yes, the ticket is against your license not the car.
You ticket goes on your driving records, your personal insurance company may ( or may not) do a record check of your driving record every year.

A ticket is never reported to the insurnace, the insurance company merely sees it when they do a record check on you.
Yes, it's on your name, and drivers license number..
Probably. The ticket is for you, not the car. There is a chance it won't show up, though. Were you driving this car in your state or out of state? I recieved a ticket for driving 89 in a 65, I live in RI but the ticket was recieved from a MA State trooper. It has not shown up on my driving record, yet. It was almost a year ago. I must say I did learn my lesson and have driven slower since.

  • Can you take a rental car out of the country?

That would depend on the rental agency's rules and where you rent the car. Check with them. You would also need to be sure that you are familiar with local laws and practices in the area you are driving abroad. Can you take a rental car out of the country?
I now you can drive one into Canada. About 4 years ago, iIrented a car in Buffalo and drove into Canada. I don't know about Mexico, you would need to ask the rental agency. Can you take a rental car out of the country?
YES YOU CAN, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A SPECIAL INSURANCE FROM THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY SO THE CAR IS COVERED OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTRY.
It depends upon the policies of the rental car company. Most are allowed in Canada, but not Mexico.

Remember, you may need a temporary license to drive in that particular country. Your USA license may not be valid in Mexico or Canada.

Do rental car companies check your DMV record?

I have rented several cars and none of the companies have ever checked my driving record.Do rental car companies check your DMV record?
No. I've rented cars several times over the years. What you need is a valid drivers license, a major credit card and if you don't have your own car insurance you have to buy theirs. Don't get talked into buying theirs if you have your own.Do rental car companies check your DMV record?
    No
count on it..some rentals places...go back 6 years...to see if you had a DUI.
    Nope.

Why are you going to go ';Jack@ss'; style with the car?
I've never had one check mine that I know of.. Of course, you need a license to rent one, so if yours is suspended, you won't be able to rent the car..
    Yes they do.
    SOME DO AND SOME DON'T.

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
No, but when you wreck it they will use your credit card to buy a new car. DMV is only accessible by government agencies.

After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?

i just got into an accident. my car is pretty banged up but it can be fixed. can my insurance company give me a rental car for free, even tho im turnin 18 next week and im under my parents name? After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?
It would depend on whether or not you purchased rental car replacement on your insurance policy and whether or not you could find a company that would rent to you at 17. Although the minimum age for car rental is usually lower than normal for an insurance replacement rental, it is still usually 18 or over. Check with your insurance company to see if they have contracted any partnerships with a certain car rental company that would allow them to get a rental car for a client under 18.After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?
Only if you have rental reimbursement coverage on your policy (assuming you are making a collision claim).

If you purchased this coverage - it will pay a predetermined amount per day up to the policy max. Depending on what type of car you rent, you may have some out of pocket expense.

Just because you have ';full coverage'; does not mean you purchased rental reimbursement coverage.

You can not add rental car coverage to be back dated. So if you did not have it at the time of the accident there is nothing your company can do.
Check with your Insurance company and the rental car office. The rental car office has a rule that they are allow to rent car to person over 21 years old in some states. Check on the extra insurance from the rental car company. If you get an accident in there car you will be responsible for the deductible from your policy. If you can not rent, then I would suggest let one of your parents rent the vehicle and use one of your parent's car.
Check your insurance certificate. This should indicate whether or not you are eligible for a hire car, and for how long you can rent it for no extra cost.

On my policy I am allowed a 14-day rental car, but after that I have to pay a small daily fee.
it does depend on your ins. policy, you did not say if another persons car was involved if the other person was at fault there ins. should cover a rental car.
Only if you elected to carry rental coverage on your policy.
    Check with your repair shop.

A lot of repair shops give you a loaner to use when your car is being repaired.
Call your agent, it depends on your coverage. Peace.
If your full coverage has a free rental car clause in it .. yes you can
