Is a management trainee position a good job at rental car places? ?
If you have no other options then yes. For me I would consider this as a transition job unless the management pay was excellent. Income and position are relative to your situation.
Ask yourself this... did you go to college for 4 years to manage a retail rental store?
Also... how will the rental car business do with the depression that is coming in 2009? If business and travel contracts.. how will it affect the rental car industry?
maybe if your premoted if your good

Should I pay for the parking ticket from a rental car in long beach, CA?
If you broke the law you should pay the penalty.Should I pay for the parking ticket from a rental car in long beach, CA?
Even if you do not pay it, the rental company will sue or demand for payment later after they pay it. In either case, you are just prolonging the agony.
I know you are thinking that because the car is NOT in your name that you are not liable. BUT, hey you signed a rental contract! What do you think about those voluminous small prints contain? Not only that you are prolonging the agony, you are also sticking it to yourself with more charges later. The rental company has a LOT of personal info on you already - where you live, your driver license, your credit card number, etc.
Be sensible and responsible. Unless, you can prove otherwise that the ticket was in error. Even then, you must pay first, then get a refund later. Else, you will be accruing a lot of the so-called other charges. READ the fine print for these charges. It is scary.
Worse, if you do not pay the rental company you may be liable for late charges and eventually a possible ding in your credit report.Should I pay for the parking ticket from a rental car in long beach, CA?
kind of surprised you even asked the question. Why would you not pay for something you did?
Would be a good idea!!!
Yes. If you don't, they can track you down from the rental car agency. If you don't, you may have a hard time getting a rental car in the future. They may also be able to deduct it from your deposit since they don't want to pay your ticket.
I would. They will probably trace it back to you anyway since it would be easy to tell who had that car on the date the ticket was issued.
By the time the rental car company traces the rental car back to you and writes to you about the ticket, the fees will have fines associated with it.
It might be in your contract that they can bill you for the ticket so if you pay it now then you can save yourself about 20 more bucks.
(this would just be my guess, I have NO first hand knowledge either way)
If you deserve it, then yes. Take god damn responsibility for your actions.
yes unless you want to contest the ticket..
Yes. You will end up paying for it either way because the rental company will have your credit card info on file. I would be willing to bet that they will add some sort of surcharge to the intial fine.
pay now and save late.
If its your parking ticket then yes.
Yes. The rental company will get the bill for the ticket, since the police know they own the car. The company will forward it to you, anyway. I know - it happened to me.
The car Rental Company will bill your credit card with a fee and it will be expensive
YES
Yes I believe you should. If you did do something unlawful it is only right that you do get a ticket. No matter if it is a rental car or not.

Rental Car for a 16 year old?
If my dad were to rent a car, would it be legal for me, (his 16 year old daughter) to drive it? Or do i have to be 18?Rental Car for a 16 year old?
Only if the rental company will allow you to be listed on the contract as an authorized driver. However, most rental companies will not allow a 16 year old to be listed. The few that do - may require you to take out the Loss Damage Waiver that costs 16-20 per day.
You will have to ask the rental company.Rental Car for a 16 year old?
You have to be 25 years old just to even be able to drive a rental car. I don't think you need to be 25 to be able to rent a car because I've rented cars before I turned 25 but I do remember that we had to be 25 years old to legally drive it. My husband (boyfriend at the time) also rented a car before he turned 25 but I had to sign that I was going to be the only one driving the car because I was over 25. This was in California and in Hawaii. Don't know about other states though.
But at 16, I highly doubt you could legally drive a rental car in any state.
No, it would not be legal. The only person allowed to drive a rental car is the person who rented it. I believe that you can add other drivers, but for an additional charge. But I'm pretty sure you have to be 18 in order to drive them.
Depending on the reason for the rental, and the company you go through will make a difference. I know that Enterprise will rent to people under 21, but there is a surcharge and it is only for insurance reasons. good luck.
To drive a rental car they require you to be 21. If they insured it the insurance will not cover you. If dad has you on his insurance you are covered for the family car not the rental.
Not going to happen. You have to be at least 21 to drive a rental car, with some companies the age is 25.
No, you must be 22 to rent or use a rental vehicle
Nope, can't do it

What's the best way for a family to travel in Europe - by rail or rental car? We only have two weeks.?
For many people the decision becomes a financial one. In Europe, especially now, the price of gas is extremely high. That, coupled with the very high tolls on major highways (e.g., France) you might find the group fare offers of the German rail system (Deutsche Bahn) to be worth considering.
Add to that the cost of parking a car in the city center (sometimes as much as $17 for a few hours) to be an added pinch to the wallet.
The train system is efficient, the trains are clean, no hoodlums on the trains, monitored in person and by surveillance camera and the train stations often enjoyable to browse on their own.
Travelling by car across the border (from Germany) to the Czech Republic has been described by some (me included) as completely unenjoyable: the roads are not modern, the trucks are slow, and on arriving: hard to find parking.
I live six months of the year in Europe and have a car but prefer not use it for the above reasons.
Good Luck. Explore these options on the internet and ask questions in fora like these. What's the best way for a family to travel in Europe - by rail or rental car? We only have two weeks.?
Thank you for the prize (BEAMING)!
If you do decide to drive and are tempted to put the pedal to the metal on the German Autobahn, should the authorities decide that your speed exceeded that which was ';sensible';, your fine may be decided by reviewing your yearly income.
Have a safe trip!
What's the best way for a family to travel in Europe - by rail or rental car? We only have two weeks.?
For a family I would suggest to travel by car. It may be a little more expensive but you want have the problem of getting separated. My husband and I and our two friends and their two daughters all went on a train trip in Germany one weekend. We were supposed to get off at this one stop. The two girls were in a stroller and I went to the door to get off. As I was getting off with the girls the door starts to close (you can't open it once it starts to close) so I jumped off and the train took off with my husband and our friends. I had to wait for about an hour before they were able to get off at the next train stop and come back. The trains in Germany are really good but if you have to get off at a smaller town then they don't give you much time to get off. So for a family I would suggest traveling by car. Sixt rental is really good from my experience. I hope you enjoy your trip.
And do check wether it's the European holiday time when you're travelling. If it is, use the train and book your tickets well beforehand, otherwise you're caught on endless traffic jams!
Rail, unless they can learn to drive, the British way.
use a sensible combination of the two, but the most important thing is your itinerary. i spent three weeks in europe last summer with family. we rented a car when it required multiple stops in and around southern france, switzerland and italy and our interests were the things that were a bit off the beaten path. if you plan traveling to mostly cities definitely by train.
gasoline is rather expensive and parking is usually a huge nuisance in most large cities especially near tourist attractions. you will see less on the train in my opinion but have more opportunity to meet and talk with people. so it's a trade off. on the other hand if you are a true blue american and like having a car that works too but will probably require you to stay at bigger more american style hotels away from the central parts of the city.
If you are adventerous, by all means get a rental car. Many of the best vacations happen when you stop at quaint little villages and talk to the locals.
If you are only interested in sightseeing major metropolitan areas (i.e. Paris, Berlin, Milan, Rome, etc), and if you want to avoid the hassle of finding parking spaces and driving through the busiest streets in the world, the rail is a steal. You can buy a ticket for unlimited rail travel for a day, week, or month.
Either way is fine, but I think I would go by car. That way you are on your own schedule. Just know that the driving can be crazy, especially in Paris and throughout Italy. It's fun to drive on the German Autobahn, but it seems like everywhere I go lately there is construcion and that sucks and sometimes you end up just sitting there in a stau (traffic jam)
I would go with Rail or Airlines. The trains leave nearly constantly and are quick, but you can't beat the airlines for price and if you are looking to go over 500 miles.
I've done both and used:
www.ryanair.com
www.easyjet.com
www.germanwings.com
www.hlx.com
Go to their sites and check out the rates, you'll see what amazing possibilites 2 weeks can offer you. I did Southern Spain, Rome, Dublin and London in the course of 8 days. It was a bit rushed, but saw everything big in every city with time for nice meals and nights out.
Europe may be bigger than you think. You can't ';do'; europe in two weeks. If you want to discover one country then a car is probably best. If you plan to hop from London to Paris to Berlin, to Rome then Vienna (exhausting) then train is probably best.
Compared to US, Europe is small. So so, even if trains are very quick more comfortable and much used than in the US, I tend to think thaht for a family a car is better because it allows to visit the countryside and little villages and not only the main cities.
I would definitely recommend flying in Europe, too. There are numerous extremely cheap airlines in Europe which connect all the major cities. It is far less time consuming than driving. You can visit many countries and you can always rent a car in the new country. I recommend Ryanair.com, AirBerlin.com, Germanwings.com. Sometimes you can find tickets at Ryanair for less than 1 Euro plus tax. You can't beat that especially because fuel prices are about twice that of Stateside prices. My family lived in Germany for 4 years and did a lot of traveling all overy Europe.

Train or Rental car from Rochester, to Buffalo, to Brockport NY?
I don't know which to use for my trip to New York. I will be landing at the Greater Rochester Airport and will be going to see U of R, then SUNY Buffalo and then SUNY Brockport. Should I get a rental car and drive from location to location or would a train ride be best? (I don't even know if a train runs to any of these locations, I'm clueless, help!)Train or Rental car from Rochester, to Buffalo, to Brockport NY?
Driving would be best. While Amtrak does stop at Rochester and Buffalo, getting to the college campuses from the train station can be problematical. And Amtrak definitely does not stop at Brockport.
I lived in Buffalo for 4 years and could never find a good way to get to the SUNY Buffalo Amherst campus from the Amtrak train station in Depew (it requires transferring through three NFTA buses).
Get a rental car from the Ro-cha-cha airport and drive. It will be the easiest way.
Hope this helps.your cosmetics revlon

I'm planning to honeymoon in vegas- do we need a rental car?
we'll be staying in a hotel on the strip for 2 nights and am wondering if we can just walk to nearby attractions?I'm planning to honeymoon in vegas- do we need a rental car?
You can walk to anywhere on the strip, and if you want to go to the old casino district, catch the double decker bus that stops every block along the strip. I recommend checking out this area also. You can see the old neon signs along east freemont street. It is fabulous. And the worlds biggest tv screen - it is 4 blocks long and covers the entire street. It is amazing to see this area after dark. I was there in November. I absolutely Loved it.I'm planning to honeymoon in vegas- do we need a rental car?
no need for a car, you can walk everywhere. if you are staying on the strip, you will be able to walk everywhere. i've been to vegas a couple times, and i just took a cab from the airport to the hotel, and then at the end of my trip took a cab back to the airport, but other than that we just walked everywhere. the strip is about 1 mile long i believe, so everything you do on there is in walking distance. and there is no reason to go off the strip because there is nothing else in vegas - everything is right on the strip.
I would not waste your money by renting a car. Everything on the strip is within walking distance. The things that aren't such as Freemont street are on the bus route and it's totally safe to take the bus. My husband and I did it at night even and it's very well lit and cheap too. With the price of gas and everything I wouldn't bother with the rental car.
You can walk, take a cab, or there used to be free bus service up and down the strip. I wouldn't rent a car if you need to save $. You can get from any airport to any hotel by bus or hotel transportation service, and then after that a car would be more trouble than it's worth.
Actually we just got back at stayed at Harrah's...we got a shuttle back %26amp; forth from the hotel and also took the double decker ';Deuce'; bus daily up %26amp; down the strip ( some are far--ie: Rio (Buffet is FABULOUS) and downtown--it's only $5 a day!! Don't rent a car--you don't need it. :)
P.S. Be sure to wear comfy shoes!
you can walk mostly anywhere, check at the hotel you are staying at for suggestions for a day trip...and you can rent the car at the hotel...you might want to consider a helicopter ride at night, its great
You can walk just about anywhere. When you get tired, just grab a cab, they are all over the place down there. IF you rented a car, you probably would not be using it much to tell the truth.
I believe you can it can be romantic. You and your husban holding hand and just watching the wonders of las vegas.
DONT RENT A CAR IT WILL BE NOT BE NEEDED. YOU CAN WALK ON THE STRIP OR TAKE A TAXI.

Need a flight to and a rental car in Chicago!?
flying from okc,ok to ORD....
2 passengers from July 8th-11th
i'm having trouble figuring out how to use the traveling sites like Orbitz etc...
Just need a flight there and a rental car to get around.Need a flight to and a rental car in Chicago!?
Why not avoid O'Hare and fly Southwest from OKC to MDW. Midway is smaller, easier, and you can get your rental car right across from Baggage Claim on the lower level.
Just take Cicero Ave. North to I-55 North. That takes you right downtown.Need a flight to and a rental car in Chicago!?
Can't help you with Orbitz, etc. I have never had any problem using them. You enter your info and get the results to choose from. Maybe you should work with a travel agent.
If you stay in a downtown hotel in Chicago, you will neither need nor want a car. The public transit system is very good and parking costs are outrageous. If you go to the Chicago Transit Authority's website, you can get all the info you need. There's a direct train [Blue Line] from ORD to downtown - takes about an hour, depending on time of day.

What's the penalty for driving a rental car if your under 21?
The rental company might add a hefty charge to the rental agreement, if it finds out. I wouldn't try driving it without their knowledge, as it could void the insurance coveage; I wouldn't want to try it.What's the penalty for driving a rental car if your under 21?
I'd imagine just a ticket. I doubt they'd do something ridiculous like take your license away. Plus, if you drive carefully, no one has to find out! What's the penalty for driving a rental car if your under 21?
No penalty if you have a valid license and if you are driving with the permission of the person who rented the car. The police have nothing to do with enforcing the terms of the rental agreement. The renter is violating the contract but that is a civil matter, not criminal. If you have an accident you better have your own insurance because the rental insurance will refuse to pay and you may find out that your insurance won't cover you in a rental either if it's in violation of the rental contract.
Well, they won't RENT it to you, if you're under 21. If someone over 21 rents it, and they find out you were driving, they'll go back and surcharge their credit card monster fees - like $250 a day.

Am I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?
Hi,
My car was a total loss and the insurance company approved several days use of a rental car for me @ $20 per day. I didn't use the rental car at all, I was able to get rides from friends. Am I entitled to that money?
I live int he north east US.
ThanksAm I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?
No, Unfortunately not.....
We are talking about Insurance co. here......... They are here to steal money any and every way possible....Am I entitled to $ from insurance company since I didn't use rental car?
the name of the coverage that got approved, was ';rental reimbursement coverage';. If you didn't rent, you aren't entitled to be reimbursed. BUT, if you took a bus or a taxi or paid gas money to someone for a ride, you could submit THOSE receipts to be reimbursed.
Have ';Friends'; write you out a receipt for each ride.
You maybe eligible since in lieu of them paying you $20 a day, you saved them money by using the help of friends/family.
Most companies will reimburse you around $10 per day for not renting a car for just that reason. It saves them money and you get paid vs a rental company. So say for instance they approved a rental for you for 3 days, they would reimburse you $30.
I did that all the time when i handled claims in an insurance company.
call them and find out; good luck
Insurance is intended to indemnify you for your loss. If the insurance company paid you for the rental you would end up profiting from the claim.
No. Had you used a rental car then you could have claimed whatever it costs. You could try putting a claim for expenses incurred in paying your friend for lifts but he would need to give you a receipt.
No, you don't get the money. You were offered the rental car, and you did not avail yourself of the offer. Rather silly on your part. You do not get money in lieu.
No!
(If you insured your home's belonging against theft, and nobody stole anything, would THAT entitle you to money from the insurance company? LOL!)
email me and I will tell you how to get your $20/day from the insurance company.
No. You were entitled to $20 toward a rental car, not cash.
That's funny.
nope...sorry. in cases like this its use it or lose it.

I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
he only ask me so show him proof if the car was in my name, will this go ticket i got go onto my insurance???I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
the ticket goes on your driving record regardless of what vehicle you may be driving , as to your insurance rates that will be determined by the insurance companyI was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
Yes, the ticket is against your license not the car.
You ticket goes on your driving records, your personal insurance company may ( or may not) do a record check of your driving record every year.
A ticket is never reported to the insurnace, the insurance company merely sees it when they do a record check on you.
Yes, it's on your name, and drivers license number..
Probably. The ticket is for you, not the car. There is a chance it won't show up, though. Were you driving this car in your state or out of state? I recieved a ticket for driving 89 in a 65, I live in RI but the ticket was recieved from a MA State trooper. It has not shown up on my driving record, yet. It was almost a year ago. I must say I did learn my lesson and have driven slower since.your cosmetics revlon

Can you take a rental car out of the country?
That would depend on the rental agency's rules and where you rent the car. Check with them. You would also need to be sure that you are familiar with local laws and practices in the area you are driving abroad. Can you take a rental car out of the country?
I now you can drive one into Canada. About 4 years ago, iIrented a car in Buffalo and drove into Canada. I don't know about Mexico, you would need to ask the rental agency. Can you take a rental car out of the country?
YES YOU CAN, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A SPECIAL INSURANCE FROM THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY SO THE CAR IS COVERED OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTRY.
It depends upon the policies of the rental car company. Most are allowed in Canada, but not Mexico.
Remember, you may need a temporary license to drive in that particular country. Your USA license may not be valid in Mexico or Canada.

Do rental car companies check your DMV record?
I have rented several cars and none of the companies have ever checked my driving record.Do rental car companies check your DMV record?
No. I've rented cars several times over the years. What you need is a valid drivers license, a major credit card and if you don't have your own car insurance you have to buy theirs. Don't get talked into buying theirs if you have your own.Do rental car companies check your DMV record?
No
count on it..some rentals places...go back 6 years...to see if you had a DUI.
Nope.
Why are you going to go ';Jack@ss'; style with the car?
I've never had one check mine that I know of.. Of course, you need a license to rent one, so if yours is suspended, you won't be able to rent the car..
Yes they do.
SOME DO AND SOME DON'T.
CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
No, but when you wreck it they will use your credit card to buy a new car. DMV is only accessible by government agencies.

After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?
i just got into an accident. my car is pretty banged up but it can be fixed. can my insurance company give me a rental car for free, even tho im turnin 18 next week and im under my parents name? After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?
It would depend on whether or not you purchased rental car replacement on your insurance policy and whether or not you could find a company that would rent to you at 17. Although the minimum age for car rental is usually lower than normal for an insurance replacement rental, it is still usually 18 or over. Check with your insurance company to see if they have contracted any partnerships with a certain car rental company that would allow them to get a rental car for a client under 18.After an accident, can ur insurance give u a temporary rental car?
Only if you have rental reimbursement coverage on your policy (assuming you are making a collision claim).
If you purchased this coverage - it will pay a predetermined amount per day up to the policy max. Depending on what type of car you rent, you may have some out of pocket expense.
Just because you have ';full coverage'; does not mean you purchased rental reimbursement coverage.
You can not add rental car coverage to be back dated. So if you did not have it at the time of the accident there is nothing your company can do.
Check with your Insurance company and the rental car office. The rental car office has a rule that they are allow to rent car to person over 21 years old in some states. Check on the extra insurance from the rental car company. If you get an accident in there car you will be responsible for the deductible from your policy. If you can not rent, then I would suggest let one of your parents rent the vehicle and use one of your parent's car.
Check your insurance certificate. This should indicate whether or not you are eligible for a hire car, and for how long you can rent it for no extra cost.
On my policy I am allowed a 14-day rental car, but after that I have to pay a small daily fee.
it does depend on your ins. policy, you did not say if another persons car was involved if the other person was at fault there ins. should cover a rental car.
Only if you elected to carry rental coverage on your policy.
Check with your repair shop.
A lot of repair shops give you a loaner to use when your car is being repaired.
Call your agent, it depends on your coverage. Peace.
If your full coverage has a free rental car clause in it .. yes you can

Is it wrong that I want to keep my rental car?
My truck got stolen a few weeks ago, well the police have found it but it's in the impound I really don't want to pay to get it out, should I just keep the rental or steal my car out of jail?Is it wrong that I want to keep my rental car?
Why didn't you drive your car in the river? That's what I did last month when I had a rental BMW when I got my '89 beetle got back from getting some work done I promptly decided that I wanted to keep my rental longer so I just drove my beetle into a near by ocean!
Good Luck! Is it wrong that I want to keep my rental car?
What does this have to do with marriage and divorce? Pay to get your car out of impound or it's going to cost you a lot more fighting a grand theft auto charge.
Really have no choice to get it back or buy a new or used one? Or you can always just take public transportation? ^^;
Wow, that sucks when they find your stolen car. Thats depressing when you're driving a rental car.
And they dont give you a get out of jail free card when you reclaim yours.
Sigh....
do the right thing and go get your car, it is a rental car not a car for sale
Keep the rental! That's what Homer Simpson was going to do. Anything that Homer wants to do can't be bad.
Why is this in the marriage and divorce category?
that really sucks that they found your old truck... you should have hidden it better, or paid the kids more to torch it.. rookie
If someone stole your car you shouldn't have to pay any fees for it
Are you married to your car? or did you divorce your rental car
Surely you jest!

Are there any rental car companys that let you pay with cash if you have no credit card?
Enterprise requires a minimum $250 cash deposit or debit card, a valid drivers license, a recent utility bill that is not past due (power, gas, water), proof of a valid home phone (phone bill---cell phone doesn't count), references, and a recent pay check stub. Are there any rental car companys that let you pay with cash if you have no credit card?
most car rental agencies require a credit card for a security deposit. you dont have to charge the car on it just provide it for liability reasons. Are there any rental car companys that let you pay with cash if you have no credit card?
I believe Budget rental car will with proper ID. but since 9/11 companies have really locked down on this type of practice.
Generally speaking no. Unless you could leave a cash deposit big enough to cover wrecking the car you rent.
I would assume they all would let you pay cash if you didn't have a credit card.
I work for a small independent car lot. We rent cars. We will rent to cash. We require a $250.00 deposit, car ins(liability) , 22 years older. Local only no one ways or out of state travel. Also U-Haul will rent to any one with a lic. and $100.00 deposit. $19.95 a day, %26amp;.79 per mile on weekdays, $.99 per mile on weekend.

Will land in boston; is it possible to take rental car into canada, or are there restrictions? advice re: $$$
when i booked a rental car in denver, they would not allow me to take it into canada. is this general policy , or ok at border locations? do you have to pay more for insurance, etc? Will land in boston; is it possible to take rental car into canada, or are there restrictions? advice re: $$$
The rental agency will need to be advised that you plan to take the car out of the country and into Canada.
If you have an accident or the car is stolen when you went to Canada, and you did not tell Hertz or whoever you rented from, the insurance clause may not be valid and you will have to pay for the full cost of the repairs or replacement cost for the car.
Make sure that you get their agreement (in writing if possible) that you can go to Canada. You will have to let them know where, when and for how long.
By the way, I am not sure if the customs agents can determine if the car is a rental when they scan or punch in your license plate, but I would guess yes. They may turn you back at that point so why take the chance. Will land in boston; is it possible to take rental car into canada, or are there restrictions? advice re: $$$
no problem, just have the propper ID and yes you need insurance on your car in Canada
Check with the rental company. Sometimes they will not want you to leave the country with a rental.
SteveN is right. My husband works on the border at Canada Customs, and rental cars are frequently turned back because they do not have clearance from the rental company to enter Canada, or they do not have insurance that covers Canada.
Be sure all your paperwork is in order and save yourself a long frustrating wait, only to be turned back.
BTW, your license number is punched into a computer, and it will show up immediately if it is a rental.
Well pal, i am from Boston, and the answer is yes. But a drive from logan airport to canada is a long one, you will have to cross NH, and head up through the north, i would say with the traffic leaving Boston down i95, that your total trip will take about 6 to 7 hours, so just make sure you prep. And just make sure you have all your info on the rental when you hit the border of canada, cause the mounties are tough! good luck

Best way to travel from Hollywood, Florida to Miami if you don't have a rental car?
Depends on WHERE in Miami you want to go.
For downtown best option is Tri-Rail (stations on Sheridan or Hollywood Blvd. just west of I-95) south to Metro-Rail transfer station in Miami. Transfer to metro-Rail South to Government Center-Downtown station (NOT Civic Centre). You'll be right downtown. From there you can take buses to M. Beach, Little havana, etc. Info booth with maps at the foot of escalator from the Metro-rail platform.
If you want to stay on the East/Beach side. Mainland, take Broward Transit Bus 1 (local - every stop on So. Federal Highway,US-1) or Beach side, Bus-4 (every stop on A-1-A) South. Both stop at Aventura Mall. There you transfer to a Miami-Dade bus South - depending on where you want to go. These are all local buses %26amp; will be slow.Best way to travel from Hollywood, Florida to Miami if you don't have a rental car?

Rental car suggestions?
My friends and i are planning on renting a car and driving from Michigan to Texas, any suggestions for companies?
Which ones would you recommend or are the best?
Any ones with GPS included?Rental car suggestions?
The car rental companies charge extra for a gps unit, it's usually around $13 per day.
To check prices, I suggest going to a booking site, like travelocity, so you can compare multiple car rental company's rates. Once you find the cheapest company, you can try going to their website directly to see if they have any deals or specials that will lower the rate. You can also try using a discount code, if you qualify. There are hundreds of membership programs and professional associations that offer car rental discount codes to their members. You can find a list of car rental discount codes for 8 major car rental companies, at http://www.best-car-rental-tips.com/disc鈥?/a>Rental car suggestions?

Do you always return your rental car back in pristine condition?
I do... except for the empty beer cans in the floorboard, cigaratee burns in the seats, and the home made shotgun rack I build in the back window.Do you always return your rental car back in pristine condition?

Taxi or Rental Car in Las Vegas?
We will be traveling to Vegas shortly and staying off the strip (Golden Nugget). Flying in. We would like to see the strip. Am I better off renting a car or just getting a taxi? Will be there for 4 days.Taxi or Rental Car in Las Vegas?
rental is better more flexibiliyt and also free parking.
taxis is not cheap out here any mopre.Taxi or Rental Car in Las Vegas?
Ive been to vegas a few times and have done both. It depends on how much walking you want to do. It is very flat out there, and distances can be decieving. It takes a long time to walk down the ';new'; strip. But if its not to hot, its a great time. We walked and stopped in various casinos on the way (we walked from the MGM grand to the Hilton). There is also a tram system in place now in vegas that you can use to travel up and down the strip. The ';old'; vegas is slightly smaller and easier to walk around.
Unless you plan to travel to the Hoover damn or other ';off strip'; areas, i would suggest just using a taxi and the other public transportation availible. It makes sight seeing much more fun, and driving in that area is not alot of fun.
from the airport, we actually found other people going to the same area and split the cost of a limo, which ended up being about the same as a taxi (when split among the two parties), and it was a great exerience to pull up to the MGM grand ina limo.
I used to be a cab driver in Las Vegas and know it is easier to take a cab than have a rental car.
#1 Taxi's are plentiful. $2.20 drop and $2.00 per mile. From the airport add an additional $2.20 tax (only FROM the airport). There is waiting time factored in as well, it just went up to $23 per hour. Traffic will increase the cost.
In Las Vegas the cab drivers are full of information. They will tell you the best restaurants, night clubs, casinos, tourist spots, etc.....ALL cab drivers are required to SPEAK, READ and WRITE English. If they fain no or little English GET OUT and take the next one.
Keep in mind that ALL taxi drivers in Las Vegas live on their tips because they can not own their own cab/medallion. All drivers get a percentage of the meter/fare usually equals about 40% which pays the income taxes, trip fee's and fuel cost. Tip according to the service you get, nice, clean, informative, safe, etc.....If you feel you didn't get good service DO NOT tip the driver BUT tell him/her why you did not tip them. If you don't tip and just get out without saying anything they will just think you are a CHEAP ****** and wouldn't have tipped them anyway. If they are driving faster than you like ask them to slow down or stop being so erratic.
#2 IF you get an honest driver it is relatively cheap.
You should always be familiar with the city you are going to in advance of your trip. Yes there are a lot of thieving cab drivers in LV. I was not one of those.
What I suggest is giving the driver $15 to the south end or center of strip, $20 to north end and $25 to downtown right when you get in at the airport and tell him/her this is all he/she will get for the fare. The tip will be better the nicer he/she is.
The companies to avoid FROM/TO the airport are Desert(orange/white) Nellis(blue/white) these are notoriously the biggest thief's (long haulers/tunnel rats, the owners require them to be, not always the drivers fault). Paradise Road is the best route out of the airport NO MATTER WHAT unless you are going to Green Valley/Henderson
If you have a problem with a driver there is always the Taxi Authority (aka T.A.) you can find their number on any drivers permit which MUST be visible from any seat in the taxi. I also suggest you pay attention to the cab company (car number), drivers name and permit number. In case you leave anything or have a complaint.
Keep a map with you at all times and KNOW where you are going.
Let the driver AVOID driving on the strip at all cost especially at night. What would be an $8 ride from MGM to Bally's going down the alley will be $20 at night on the strip because of all of the RENTAL cars not knowing where they are going.
The highway/freeway should be avoided during the day (rush hour 6:30am to 7pm). I-15 is a good route between the south end of the strip and downtown, IF the driver exits and enters on Charleston Ave (exit 42?). Never let the driver go all the way around to the 93/95 and take the downtown exit UNLESS you are going to the Horseshoe casino. It is NEVER OK for the driver to enter the Highway from the 93/95 from downtown.
The drivers will often use parallel roads to the strip such as Frank Sinatra, Paradise, Koval or Industrial/Dean Martin Dr let them do this, unless you like sitting in traffic and paying more to not move!!!! (remember waiting time, $23 per hour)
Keep in mind if time is of the essence and the cost is of no consequence than let the driver figure it out for you, they know which way to go when there is an accident/traffic just don't let them tell you there is an accident and believe them so they can take a longer route.
#3 Convenience, Parking the rental is almost always free but always a long walk. A taxi is right outside the front door. The traffic is INSANE. Most likely you will want to drink and you don't want to get a DUI in Nevada. Rental cars will get into more accidents on the strip because you will want to sight see and don't know where you are going (wrong lane, looking at the girls/boys, looking at the colorful lights).
There is always the Valet parking service which is free to use but some hotels have limited space and will turn you away or you will have to wait for as long as an hour to get your car. A tip is expected as well.
A rental will cost a minimum of $30 per day and will sit parked most of the time. Taxi's will cost about the same in the long run but, you will be helping the economy by using taxi's.
The rental car companies are required to charge a tax of $5+ per day when picked up at the airport. If you do get a rental get it at the hotel you are staying at. All of the hotels have rental car counters. If the company you prefer to rent from is not at your hotel go next door.
#4 The bus system is plentiful and cheap but VERY crowed and as someone else stated SMELLY. Sometimes you have to wait for 4-5 buses to go by before you can get on one that has room.
The monorail is about as worthless as you know what on a boar. It also has long walks and drops you off at the back of the Few hotels it serves. If you want to go from the Sahara to the MGM than take the monorail. Other wise take a cab and get door to door service.
#5 IF you want to do some sight seeing. Take a tour bus trip. A helicopter is also a great way to see the area. A bus tour will be cheaper, but a helicopter is an AWESOME way to see things. If the mass tours are not for you than rent a car for the day when going to the Hoover/Boulder dam, Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire or Death Valley all are worth seeing.
To see the Strip take a cab from the Nugget and get dropped off at the Mandalay Bay and walk north from there, south of Mandalay there is nothing...... Or you could start at the Wynn and walk south from there...... North of the Wynn is still older and not much worth seeing. The Stratosphere is the exception, it is at the far north end of the strip and has incredible views from 1200 feet up. Either way walking is the best way to see the strip. When you get tired and want to get back to your hotel jump into a cab sit back and relax.
I can guarantee you you will not be able to see everything you want to in 4 days. On the other hand 4 days is the perfect amount of time to visit Las Vegas. That way when you go back you will still have a few things you will want to see and a plethora of new things as well.
If strip clubs are your thing take a taxi. Yes the driver gets a kickback to drop off at a club anywhere from $10-$30 per person (not all clubs do this) If you are waiting for a taxi and the doorman asks you where you are going then tell them it is none of their business or lie and tell them you are going back to your hotel. The reason is they will try to SELL you a limo. The doormen rip the limo drivers off by charging the drivers X number of $$$ per person and the driver gets little to no money. The doormen are some of the biggest thieves in Las Vegas. They try to talk you into a limo so they get the kickback from the limo driver. If a doorman asks you where you are going...tell them IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS....or lie and tell them a restaurant or back to your hotel. They are not supposed to ask anyway (safety reasons)
If you stay downtown, you cabs or public transpo - like the Deuce bus - to get around. The Nugget charges for parking too - and I don't know how much they validate for guests, and chances are, aside from getting from downtown to the Strip, you're better off walking - since traffic STINKS on the Strip. A cab ride will be about $10 or so one way. A rental car can easily run you $20 a day, gas is $3 a gallon, and parking is like $10 a day at the Nugget. (Free at the Strip hotels.)
The traffic can be a nightmare on the strip. The bus route is good as well as the availability of taxis. On the strip, Trolleys, the monorail, the bus system, and walking are much more convenient than having to go to a car when you want to travel.
If you are planning on drinking any at all DON'T drive.
A taxi from the AP to GN will cost about $25. A shuttle will take 1-1 1/2 hours but only cost $8. If you have 3-4 people in you group take a taxi.
Once in LV the Duece (city bus) can take an hour during peak times to get to the strip. $5 for unlimited 24 hour pass.
We use a taxi getting from one end of the strip to the other. The duece for longer trips. There are free shuttles offered by the some casinos.

The Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper as a great message board. Lots of good info.

I have done both. Since you're staying downtown, I suggest getting a rental car. If you were staying on the strip I would suggest otherwise. By the time you pay for a cab to your hotel and back to the airport, you probably can rent a small car for slightly more. Plus my experience is that cab drivers rip you off by taking you the long way or purposely sit in traffic so the meter keeps ticking. Parking is free and you have the flexibility to visit other places such as Hoover Damn, Lake Meade, Red Rock, etc. Once you drive to a casino on the strip and park, you can walk all over. If you get tired, take a bus or free shuttle back to the casino where you parked. Just remember where you park and your tag number. The garages are huge and most rental cars look alike out there.
If drinking inebriation isn't an issue, then I would definitely recommend renting a car. Taxi drivers in this town are worse cheaters than anyone at a table. With no airport shuttles here, they have a monopoly on things and take advantage of it.
If you have to take a taxi, one VERY important piece of advice. When getting in the taxi at the airport, tell the driver NOT TO USE THE TUNNEL.
To get some extra bucks from unsuspecting tourists, cabbies like to use a tunnel that leads out of the south side of McCarron to take folks to the Strip and Downtown. However, this tunnel actually leads to Henderson and becomes a long way to get to the destination.
We spent 4 days in Vegas. We walked and used the bus up and down The Strip. Daily passes are very cheap.
I am sure parking sucks and Cabs can be expensive. Ride the Deuce bus! Its has alot of stops but its $5 all day or $2 one way. Make sure you have exact change. It goes from Downtown vegas all the way to the Luxor. There are 50+ buses running up and back all day.
I would use the Double Decker bus system. You can catch it like every 10 minutes right at the corner of Freemont and The Strip and they have like 20 buses that just make a constant loop 24 hours a day up and down The Strip. You will still need to get from the airport to the Golden Nugget, so just take a taxi.
Things to think about. Driving in Vegas is like driving the NASCAR circuit. Even the best drivers will experience some nerve jarring moments. Yet it is quicker to rent a car than to wait for a cab at the airport. All car rental pick ups are off site so you will be bused to the facility. They run constantly so waiting is a minimum. Traffic on the strip is like a bumper car ride so be patient. Parking is free at most casinos. Good idea to mark your car somehow. Write down the location of your parking spot and your car. Best bet if you are going to travel off the strip for any reason. Get all the insurance they offer though. Will be worth it if something happens.
Taxis are good for short runs. Can get expensive but good in a pinch. From downtown to the strip can cost from 10 to 20 bucks depending on location on the strip and the traffic. You can get stuck for awhile and watch the meter go up. They will drop you off at the best spot at each casino. You can not flag a cab in Vegas. Cabs have to use designated pickup and dropoff locations at each facility. NO FLAGGING.
The bus system is very crowded. You will have to stand the entire trip and in traffic you could be standing for quite awhile. A bargain but personal space is non-existant. Deodorant use should be a law and limit the use of parfume. You will jump off the bus when the doors open and you squeeze your way out.
Forget the monorail. Travels along the back of the casinos ( if it is working ) and you have to walk the entire length of that casino to get to the strip. Good for them. Forces you to walk through and not around their slots. Not a real bargain either.
Trolleys are a good bargain. If you use them get an all day pass ($5 each). You can get off and on and travel the strip the entire day. They run every few minutes so if one comes that is packed, just wait for the next .. it will be empty. They run from the Stratosphere to the Luxor. They only have limited stops so you will have to walk to where ever from the stop. The brochure will tell you the stops and the driver will announce the casinos served at each stop. The Trolleys have been given bad locations for stations at most casinos. They are located to make you travel through the casino that allows the station. A deal but can be a hastle.
Good and bad with each. Just think which will serve your needs the best. No exact answer. You decide when you review the facts.
There are lots of other ways to get around besides taking a taxi or renting a car.

Any MAJOR Rental car companies that accept PREPAID MASTERCARD/VISA Debit cards?
I need to rent an automobile for a trip and I only have a prepaid debit MASTERCARD. I have been approved for a REAL credit card but it won't arrive until after I need to rent the vehicle.. I am looking for any MAJOR car rental agencies that accept PREPAID MASTERCARD or VISA debit cards for the rental..
Thanks a million!!!Any MAJOR Rental car companies that accept PREPAID MASTERCARD/VISA Debit cards?
It actually varies from location to location. If you know where you're going to pick up your car from, you should call the local office of the car companies to make sure they'll accept prepaid debit cards.
Also call up your debit card companies. Some cards don't allow car rentals. Some that say they do allow you to rent cars have special requirements.Any MAJOR Rental car companies that accept PREPAID MASTERCARD/VISA Debit cards?
Enterprise doesn't always accept prepaid card - it varies by location. I'm having the same issue right now and was shot down by Enterprise.
enterprise car rental accepts debit cards
I only have a VISA debit card and I used it to rent a car from Thrifty Car rental at DTW airport. No problem even though they did say in their ad they would not accept debit cards........ It just ran right through. I have done it 3 times so far.
enterprise
This is a dicey issue, and I think you'll have a hard time trying to use it. I know that my company accepts check/debit cards but not prepaid cards, simply because they aren't attached to an account and if something happens there isn't a way to draw more money off of the account or really to track the cardholder down. The thing is that many rental agents might not notice; for instance, we just got new software that detects when a credit, debit, or prepaid card is swiped--it won't let us proceed with a prepaid card. I'm sure that not everywhere has them and it's more than likely that most rental agents won't notice or care, but I'd be willing to bet that in principle at least, you aren't going to find a major rental agency that will rent on a prepaid debit card. Sorry. One option for you, though, is to attempt a cash qualification. In most places, Thrifty, Enterprise, and Budget (sometimes Avis) will let you bring in a cash deposit. It requires some legwork since they have to verify a whole bunch of information about you and they'll collect an amount that can be significantly over the estimated total cost of the rental ... but it's worth a shot. Good luck!
You have to make sure that the credit on the account is enough for the security charge. Once they charge your card for security, those funds will be tied up and you will have a large dent on your credit.
Bit of pain, but i think it should be okay. Also, at many restaurants, you may need an extra 15% of your bill on the card so that there is money for a tip. If there is not an extra 15%, then the card will be declined.

Good luck!

do not buy it as it has been driven by so many people and everybody drives different and tend to abuse a car that is not theirs
Yep, don't get it. Buying a rental car is like marrying a prostitute...You just don't do it. Everyone drives rental cars hard (even minivans) because they aren't theirs, and they don't have to worry about the shape of them six months down the road. You never know what is wrong with it, whether or not it has cleared the inspections, and also the value is greatly depreciated compared to other vehicles of similar year/mileage.

Reasonable wkly rates for rental car?
So, my hubs and I are slying into MCI on a weekend. We cannot find hardly anything under $300 for a 8 day rental, returning in the same location. This is ridiculous! We have no preference of who we use, but we have already spent over $2600 on tickets alone!
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for lower rates?
Thank you!Reasonable wkly rates for rental car?
try enterprise - http://www.rentalcarscode.com/enterprise鈥?/a>Reasonable wkly rates for rental car?
If you get an off airport rental it will likely be somewhat cheaper. Take a shuttle to your hotel and book something there. Some like Enterprise will pick you up at your hotel. I cannot say about Kansas City but here in LA I have been able to get an Enterprise car for s little as $129.00 a week.

most rental car companies have now done away with one way rental fees....but I am not sure that it applies to cross-country. Check with Budget, Avis, Hertz or National....
At $25.00 a day plus $10.00 a day for insurance, you might be better off going by bus. You going alone? Car pool with two or three people going that way, or near there.Do you know any cross country truck drivers? Fly!!
yes, start walking now. you'll get there and you won't pay for gas.

Do used car dealership have to disclose that the car was a rental car in Ohio Law?
In my case, running the pinnumber of the vehicle in carfax.com revealed that it was a rental car.
Used car dealerships buy vehicles from auctions, they usually don't know where they came from, nor do they care.Do used car dealership have to disclose that the car was a rental car in Ohio Law?
nope, a rental car purchased to sell as a used car is no different than an auction car or a private seller car that is bought and sold as a used car.
Ohio is the hub for Enterprise (Cincinnati), so many dealers in Ohio have used cars from them.Do used car dealership have to disclose that the car was a rental car in Ohio Law?
No, but they have to disclose if it has a salvaged title.
Buyers guide:
whether the vehicle is being sold ';as is'; or with a warranty;
what percentage of the repair costs a dealer will pay under the warranty;
that spoken promises are difficult to enforce;
to get all promises in writing;
to keep the Buyers Guide for reference after the sale;
the major mechanical and electrical systems on the car, including some of the major problems you should look out for; and
to ask to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy.
So no, they don't have to tell you it was used as a rental. But running a carfax report should show that information, and might be a good idea.
just ask my brother he says they dont have to tell where they get the cars they get most of theirs from an auction house

I just brought my car 4 1/2 months ago and the the dealer got the car from a rental car company.?
One time i was in the car with my little brother and he saw a bug it looked nasty i killed it and then i saw the same bug 3 other times. the reason why im asking is because it looked like a bed bug so my question is can bed bugs be in your car and if so how do i get rid of them??????? And if it isnt bed bugs what can it be???I just brought my car 4 1/2 months ago and the the dealer got the car from a rental car company.?
yes bed bugs can get in your car... they will go anywhere with fabric or carpet.
here's a website i found on how to get rid of them:
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Entomology-St鈥?/a>
now that its getting warmer, you could leave your car in the sun for a while... according to that website temperatures over 115 F kill bed bugs....

Do I need a rental car in las vegas, can I go there without car?
I live in NY. I want to save money. I wonder if rental car is necessaryDo I need a rental car in las vegas, can I go there without car?
Absolutly not. You really only need one if you plan to see a lot of places outside of the strip or downtown. If you plan to see Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, and some museums, then you would want to get a car. If not, there is no need.
You can walk from one end of the strip to the other in about an hour. And you can walk around downtown in about 15 minutes. You can take a taxi to different parts of the strip for $8-$10. Between the strip and downtown will cost you $15-$20. Their is a bus line that will take you between strip and downtown too for about $4 round trip (or $5 for a 24-hour pass). There are free shuttles that will take you to the off-strip casinos (Hard Rock, Rio) and to the outlet malls (visit their websites for info).
A cab from the airport will cost you $15 if you stay on the strip and $20 if you are staying downtown.
The last time my wife and I were out there, we paid for a cab ride to and from the airport, and a bus ride to and from downtown. It all cost about $60 for two people over a 4 day trip. Compare that with the price to rent a car for a day. Renting is probably a waste of money.
One thing you should invest in; however, is a comfortable pair of walking shoes. And don't waste your money going to a health club, you can get lots of exercise walking.
Visit the Imperial Palace website (www.IP.com). They have 3 webcams right outside their property (one inside and one of their pool). It is one section of the strip, but you can see how pedestrian friendly the tourist areas are. And if you don't walk the strip at night, you are missing.Do I need a rental car in las vegas, can I go there without car?
No. Multiple ways of getting around, a cab, a bus, even a
mono-rail train. Besides, traffic is always heavy, parking
costs money and you probably won't be going more than
a few miles anyway. Save the money for the games.
No a car is not necessery. I went to LV without one and used the excellent taxi services along with the automated train lines. One tip is to make up the strip in sector. Then take a cab ride to the first atraction you like to go to. Then walk around. When you like to get back take a cab home. Since the huge car park areas are in the back of a huge hotel area someone said that you dont save any time using a car in LV.

No car man, no car.
It is only good if you want to go to the grand canyon or hoover dam or something like that. If you are there for just the strip or downtown and wont be going outside vegas, I would save money. Cabs, walking, and the ';monorail'; are the ways to go in Vegas if you ask me. It costs about $10 for a cab ride in Vegas if you arent going too far....
No, you don't need to rent a car in Las Vegas unless you plan to travel outside of the area. You can get around on foot or taxi. Lots of traffic in Vegas.
Have a great trip.
If you're staying on the strip, the answer is NO. It takes less than 5 minutes to get from the airport to the strip and once you are there, you won't use it. The strip is always busy traffic wise, so it's usually quicker to walk from hotel to hotel than drive.
If you are going to go to Fremont street or to the outlets you can always cab it; in the end you'll spend less $$.
No, its not necessary unless you want to explore the city beyond the infamous strip. Most casinos have shuttle buses to Fremont Street, Hoover Dam, etc. With that being said if you go to Avis you can rent a car for about $18 a day. Not a bad price to pay if you want to see more of Nevada.
NO you won't need a car in Vegas. Use the public transportation system...last time I was in Vegas it cost about $2.00 to us it. It took about an hour to get from Paris on the strip to Farmount Street (Golden Nugget).
Traffic is really bad in Vegas. Walk every ware or take the bus (public Transportation) if you need to go some place.

Underage Rental Car in South Florida?
Does anyone know of any rental car companies (that don't charge a ridiculous amount of money) in South Florida that will rent to a 20-year old and allow it as far as northern New York? Can be anything bigger than a compact, such as a Full-Size, SUV, Van, Truck, RV, anything. Everything I can find is upwards of $1,200 for the 18 days.
Thanks.Underage Rental Car in South Florida?
Enterprise often has the cheapest underage fees; they start at $10 per day, depending on the city. You might try checking to see if the company that you work for has any corporate accounts with any car rental companies. Often, larger companies will negotiate a contract that waives the underage fee for their employees, on a business or leisure rental. Good Luck!Underage Rental Car in South Florida?

Do we need a rental car if we just want to see the theme parks in Orlando?
Disney World Orlando FlDo we need a rental car if we just want to see the theme parks in Orlando?
If you have a shuttle from the hotel, then you can catch the bus, tram or boat to the other parks without a rental car.Do we need a rental car if we just want to see the theme parks in Orlando?
Well, you have a few options. If you are only planning on seeing Disney parks, then your transportation is free. If you will be staying at a Disney Resort, transporation to any place on Disney property is included. If you are staing off Disney property, simply get yourself to Downtown Disney and take the Disney busses from there. If you would like to visit other Orlando parks such as Universal or Busch Gardens, you will need a rental car.
I recommend Enterprise.
Yes. Even if you are on-site with either Disney or Universal, you cannot easily get to the other companys parks without a rental car.
I suppose you could manage if you really like paying expensive cab fares, but as a multiple-time visitor to Orlando and Universal/Disney, I very much recomment renting a car.
No take the resort busses.
I am from LA and I cant live without a car or I feel like Im being held captive. So if you like the freedom to just leave the WDW resort area and maybe go to dinner or something it is worth it to rent a cheap car.
Yes, a rental car in the Orlando area is almost a necessity. Even if you are staying at a Disney hotel with a shuttle to their parks, there are lots of other things to see and good restaurants you will probably want to try as well as catching breakfast at a Denny's or less expensive place than your hotel. Daytona Beach is only an hour + from Disney. Cabs are very expensive and there is no public transportation to speak of. Rental cars are very reasonable in Orlando.
If you are staying onsite or your hotel has a shuttle, not really. If you stay offsite, I think it is a good idea to rent a car, just because their shuttles can take a lot longer. Onsite the shuttles are pretty quick and it is nice not to have to drive.
If you plan to go shopping or anything, you may consider renting. One trip in a taxi can cost as much as renting a small car.
If you're staying on-site (which i highly recommend), then Disney provides free shuttles to all Disney parks, Downtown Disney, and other Disney resorts. They also extend park hours for resort guests. Unless you're travelling to Universal or other area attractions, you won't need a rental car. Disney also provides complimentary airline shuttles, too.
Even if you're not staying on Disney property, most hotels have some sort of shuttle service to take you to the Disney World parks, so I'd say no rental car.
Some hotels have shuttles. If you are staying on Disney property and only want to visit Disney parks you definitely could save money by only using Disney transportation.
However, if you plan of visiting Universal Studios or elsewhere, you might want to get a car.
no, but u need to find shuttle from hotel, try great deals at
http://www.eorlando.net/
No but not sure it would be any cheaper not renting one. Between the tipping and faires it won't be cheap. Plus you need the freedom that a car gives you. Those amusement parks are not close together. If you stay in Orlando they will be closer and you can take a bus anywhere. If you don't mind commutes on the bus they are all connected.
They were going to put a train in straight across but not sure that ever got built.
It depends in the hotel you are staying, we stayed at the all stars movies and looked like everybody did, because those buses were packed all the time but for the other hotels were only a few people aboard. But I really don't see it necesary to spend the money if you have a free ride.
Have fun on your trip, say hi to mickey for me!!!
If you're staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, transportation (bus, boat, monorail) is included.

Is it ';safe'; to drive a rental car in the Yucatan?
Do you need to buy extra rental insurance?
Will Gringos get arrested by the police just for bribes? Is it ';safe'; to drive a rental car in the Yucatan?
Click the link below to see all the roads in the Yucatan peninsula. I've driven most all those roads and never had a problem. The road that goes between Merida and Cancun is actually two roads Mex-180 Cuota (fast toll road) and Mex-180 Libre (slower free road). All the other roads are free roads (no toll).
I usually get all the insurance the rental company offers, because you the company to get there fast with a new car if someone hits you and your car is dead. Plus they'll help you with the police sorting through who's responsible.
I've driven through 18 of the 31 states in Mexico and I've never been stopped by police for a bribe. But I know pretty much what all the roads signs mean--try to find a website that explains the road signs. One important sign is ';TOPES'; (speed bumps), they can take off a muffler or worse if you hit them too hard.
If you see a sign of the letter ';E'; with a line through it, that means No Estacionamiento (No Parking).
One way streets in cities may be hard to discern, because the sign may only be an arrow on the side of the building on the corner. A better indicator may be if you look down the street and all the parked cars are on one side of the street facing the same way.
Remember to get pesos because the toll booths and gas stations do not take dollars. There is only one variety of gas station in Mexico--PEMEX, and none are self-serv. Make sure the attendant resets the pump to zero before he starts pumping or you could pay for more gas than you got.
For the most part, driving in the Yucatan is as easy as a drive in the country--just that the country is Mexico. Is it ';safe'; to drive a rental car in the Yucatan?
rent a ';sleeper';, the cheapest cars available, like a tsuru, chevy, or platina. that way you wont attract attention and have third world suspension as to be able to deal with the evi, stealth speed bumps. visa and mastercard will cover you fro insurance under 15 days in mexico but you must still buy the suplemental liability and your card has to have a high enough limit that the value of the car can be placed on it as a hold. If that is not an option, get the loss waiver.
Do not be tempted to bribe or offer bribes to anyone. mexico has changed dramatically when it comes to corruption and an offer of a bribe could be an invitation to jail time now.
The best way to take your funds is to have a free world wide atm debit card, that way you can get money from any bank atm as needed. usually, atm fees are about $5US so a free atm is worth while. if you must take cash, change about $200US at the airport and keep the rest in dollars. check with your hotel for safe deposit boxes.
We rented a car when were there a few weeks ago. Our concierge was very informative. She recommended we call our insurance company first and find out how much they cover while in Mexico. It turned out we had full coverage which saved us about $20 a day on the rental.
She also gave told us if we were to be stopped by the police, show them the tourist card she provided which would give us 3 chances before the card would be revoked. If you are given a ticket, with the tourist card, the ticket would be sent to the rental agency and you would pay when returning the car. This eliminates bribery or any money exchanges. I don't know if it is Alamo's policy or with all car rentals
It's quite safe in Yucatan. Learn the signs, watch out for one-ways and the crazy speed bumps they have. Careful with all the pedestrians.
its super safe... the roads are in excellent condition, its easy to get around and if stopped by police looking for a bribe just act stupid. even if you can speak spanish, play dumb...they will get tired and eventually let you be. but the cops in cancun arent that bad...just be respectful and friendly and they will be cool, even helpful.
its slightly cheaper to pay by peso... haggle in dollars but when paying up, say you have pesos! exchange money before you leave if you can, banks have the best rates in mexico...avoid the airport or kiosks on the street. and remember, nothing is free in cancun

Rental car in Cancun, departure flight from Cozumel?
How can I most efficiently return my Cancun rental car and get all the way to Cozumel airport for my departure flight? I'll be in a group of six, so I want to do this as economically as possible.Rental car in Cancun, departure flight from Cozumel?
That's awkward for sure. If all six of you are going at once it may be easiest to just split on a taxi from the Airport to Playa del Carmen or Puerto Morelos and catch a ferry to Cozumel from there.
There is a bus from the Cancun airport to PDC every hour but by the time you pay for six fares it would likely wouldn't be that much more expensive to take a cab (or two) if there isn't a mini van available.
If you want to try to bus it, Riviera bus lines runs from the airport to Playa Del Carmen bus terminal, 3 blocks from the ferry terminal. Costs 65 pesos per adult (~US$7) %26amp; 33 per child one-way. Tickets can be bought from the driver or from a kiosk in Terminal 2. Buses run from the airport hourly 1030-2030. It leaves from outside the main arrival hall at the airport. Just before you exit the terminal, there is a Riviera counter, where you can buy tickets. In Playa del Carmen the bus stops at the main bus terminal on 5th Avenue and Juarez.
I don't know about the ferry from Puerto Morelos, if you could find out the times of that then it would be closer to the Cancun Airport and likely cheaper by cab.
Good Luck.Rental car in Cancun, departure flight from Cozumel?
You can return the car at your airports rental car, as long as its the same company.

Driving the Saddle Road in Hawaii with a rental car ...?
I went in the Big Island last year but I read that the Saddle Road was not recommended for the rental cars. I return next week. I want to know if the rental car companies (mine being Budget) are really serious about not using that road.
Have you done it with a rental car? Would you do it again?Driving the Saddle Road in Hawaii with a rental car ...?
The only reason the rental car companies don't want you to drive the Saddle is because if your car breaks down on that road, they won't come to get you. I've driven the Saddle several times as I used to live on the Big Island. It's not that bad. Most people drive down the middle of the road to avoid potholes, so obviously that can be dangerous if another car is heading in your direction! It's not a heavily trafficked road though. I think it's pretty spectacular to stop off the side of the road about halfway between Waikoloa and Hilo because you're directly between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, but honestly, it's a pretty boring drive otherwise. I recommend driving from the Kona side to Hilo through Waimea in the morning. You can stop at Tex in Honoka'a for fresh malasadas and coffee and then see the beautiful Hamakua coast as you drive south into Hilo. Much prettier than the Saddle, a bit safer, and no danger of your rental car company ditching you if you do have a breakdown.Driving the Saddle Road in Hawaii with a rental car ...?
r- ecommended doesn't mean ';can't';! ';budgut'; may have a new line of off-road vehicles!!
It is a state highway. A rental car can not go down a state highway??
You can drive it but the rental car companies will NOT cover any towing or other service call. You are on your own. If it dies you are solely responsible for getting it back to Kona or Hilo.
While it can be scenic, I do not recommend it. From the article below:
';Motorists will find safe driving on a modern roadbed for 6.5 miles in the federal-state-country project, compared with the rest of the 48-mile route, where the sides of the road have so many badly filled potholes that everyone drives down the center, then swerves to the edge for oncoming cars.';
Read the comments in the West Hawaii article too.
I was on the Big Island last April and drove up to Mauna Kea on Saddle Road from the Kona side. I rented an SUV from Hertz and asked them repeatedly about driving up there and they mentioned nothing at all in terms of trying to dissuade us.
As for my experience, the road itself was a bit bumpy but there were plenty of ';regular'; cars driving on it. If you're planning to go only to the Visitor's Center, you'll be fine. If you want to drive to the top, you'll need something with 4WD as it is steep and it becomes a dirt road. Also, the ranger there may not allow you to continue up past the Visitor's Center.
Hope you have a safe a great trip!
(Oh, by the way, yes, I would do it again with Hertz and an SUV).

I'm from california and I got parking ticket at Ottawa on my rental car. Should I pay or not?
I believe a parking ticket in Ottawa is insignificant for someone in a rental car visiting from California. I got a speeding ticket in Oregon last month while visiting from Texas. You can bet I paid IT as soon as I returned home.I'm from california and I got parking ticket at Ottawa on my rental car. Should I pay or not?
It will be paid by you, whether you like it or not. The ticket will go to the rental company. They will pay it. They will then charge your credit card for the ticket, plus an admin fee on top of that. Read your rental contract. It's all spelled out plainly. You don't have a choice in the matter.I'm from california and I got parking ticket at Ottawa on my rental car. Should I pay or not?
If you do the crime, do the time -----------Pay your fine and
don't besmirch us in the eyes of our Canadian friends and neighbors.
Which is better for you? Don't pay and worry about it for the rest of your life? Or pay it and work hard for the rest of your life to earn back the fine?
Yes, you should pay it.
Obviously they have no jurisdiction in America to force you to pay your bill. If it was a Canadian rental car, the rental car company is likely going to come after you if you don't. If you were in an american car, they should know better to ticket you.
Yes, because if you don't and the car rental company discovers it they will charge your card on file and pay it....so either way it will get paid.
trust me, it will get traced back to you dude. foster good international relations between the u.s. and canada and just pay the ticket.
It will be traced back to you by the rental company and charged to your credit card.
But the main point here is: since you parked in the wrong place, shouldn't you do what honest people do and pay the ticket?
Honestly, the choice is up to you... however, they can add to the fine, and it's not in USD (U.S. Dollar), it's probably in Canadien Currency. Pay the fine. If not, you could get a visit from a Mountie (Canadien Police)
Pay it...... If you used a credit card to rent the car, the rental agency will pay for the ticket and then bill your credit card for the price of the ticket plus an administrative fee.

Im from the uk do i need insurance to drive a rental car in usa if so can anybody tell me the best prices?
If you book your car in the UK the insurance is included if you use one of the big comapnies.
When you collect the car the desk clerk may try and sell you extra cover, you wont need it, refuse to buy it.Im from the uk do i need insurance to drive a rental car in usa if so can anybody tell me the best prices?
The insurance you need will be sold by the car rental company you choose. It's a bit pricey but because you are not a USA resident i recommend that you Get full coverage. If you book car hire on the internet while you are still in the UK you will get insurance included in the price. One of the best value places I've found is via ebookers.

.Yes you do,but prices vary so much its hard to say.I am told it is cheaper to do it by pre. booking on line, rather than using the tourist car rental firms once your there.Try car rental U.S.A. on Google.
Yes, you need insurance. You'll probably be better off buying it from the rental company. When you rent the car, just tell them you don't have insurance and they will add it on.

Is this a symptom of the rental car blues?
when renting a car, you have an option of a full tank of gas or filling the car yourself (in that case, you are charged by mileage)....what if you choose the full tank of gas option, but you used very little gas (say, a quarter tank);since you do not get an refund for unused gas...the next person who rents the car is going to get charged for a full tank of gas!?..even though there is three-quarters tank of gasoline...isn't this practice (policy) bordring on fraud? your views, please...ThanksIs this a symptom of the rental car blues?
The car rental company would top up the gas tank before they rented it to someone else, who would then have the same options that you did: refilling it, or paying the fuel option so they did not have to.
There's no question that the car rental company made money off you (who paid for the full tank, yet didn't use it) but as long as they state that you will not be refunded if you return the car with gas, (which they do) then I don't see how it constitutes fraud.

What would happens if i return a rental car and dont pay for it ?
You would be charged with theft, I imagine.
P.S. I see answers saying that they will charge your credit card, I do not think most people have 20k lines of credit on their cards. What would happens if i return a rental car and dont pay for it ?
i think you need to show a credit card to get the keys. What would happens if i return a rental car and dont pay for it ?
You WILL pay, one way or another.
They will charge it to your credit card which is necessary to rent a car with.....
The rental company will charge the credit card number you gave them when you rented the car. If it isn't any good, they will call the police.
You can only obtain a rental car with a valid credit card, so the company will just charge your balance to that.
you gave your credit car when you got it... they'll just charge you on it.
I would imagine you would be getting a visit from the police department in short order.

Can i leave my rental car in a city parking garage for 3 days straight without moving it?
specifically i was looking to park in Carpark 15 - Yorkville - Cumberland or Carpark 1 - Charles St. east of Yonge to avoid paying the astronomical rates that the Park Hyatt is charging. Can i leave my rental car in a city parking garage for 3 days straight without moving it?
I'm not sure about that particular carpark, but I did this very thing in San Diego for four days and didn't have any problems. Can i leave my rental car in a city parking garage for 3 days straight without moving it?
Ask the parking garage. Varies from place to place.
You would have to check with each garage to see if that's allowed.
you can park there as long as you need, you just have to pay the bill. :-)
YES, YOU CAN PARK YOUR RENTAL CAR WHEREVER YOU CHOOSE, THE ONLY PROBLEM, IS THAT SINCE YOU ARE DRIVING A RENTAL, YOU MAY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMEONE MAY DAMAGE THE VEHICLE, EITHER BY ACCIDENT OR ON PURPOSE. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE CHOSE TO CARRY AN INSURANCE POLICY ON THE VEHICLE. IF ANY DAMAGES WOULD OCCUR, YOU WOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. ANY PARKING GARAGE CAN BE DANGEROUS TO KEEP YOUR VEHICLE...(ESPECIALLY HERE IN BALTIMORE)...SO I KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT CAN HAPPEN...GOOD LUCK TO YOU. SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER TO PAY THE ASTRONOMICAL RATES AS OPPOSED TO HAVING YOUR CAR BROKEN INTO OR DAMAGED IN A CITY GARAGE. THE COST OF REPAIRS CAN BE MUCH HIGHER ON A RENTAL. PLUS, THE CITY WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR RENTAL IS DAMAGED.
Are you driving the car from Florida? If you are flying in to Toronto and won't be using the car for 3 days, why not take the shuttle bus from airport? If the shuttle bus doesn't go to that hotel, the limo service is not much more expensive. You are smack in the middle of downtown, so do you need a rental car? When you do, there is probably a rental desk at the hotel. Long and short, why pay to rent a car and then park it? Enjoy Toronto, it's not as bad as the news is making it out to be.

My rental car has a crack in the front glass when i was riding the freeway am i responsible for it?
YesMy rental car has a crack in the front glass when i was riding the freeway am i responsible for it?
You said ';it has a crack';.
Did you notice the crack in the glass while you were driving?
Did the attendant who inspected the vehicle prior to you leaving with it make a notation of the crack?
Did you call the rental company?
Did you accept the rental insurance? Or otherwise have insurance on your own that covers glass breakage?
Or did a rock hit the windshield and crack it while you were driving?
Responsibility is certainly unclear, but you have paperwork from the rental company that was signed. Read this over very carefully. It should answer the question for you.My rental car has a crack in the front glass when i was riding the freeway am i responsible for it?
You are responsible for it.
If you bought the added insurance to cover this kind of damage, then you won't have to pay for the repairs.
If you didn't get that insurance, or, if you own comprehensive insurace doesn't cover it, you will have to pay for the repairs.
You could TRY to say the windshield was cracked when you picked up the car, but, since your paperwork advised you to inspect the vehicle before you drove it off, this challenge will probably not work.
If it happened while in your possession and you did not have the rentals car insurance then you are fully responsible but you can also get this repaired by your insurance company many times at no cost..
it is probably too late for this but there is a law that vehicles have to have mud flaps to prevent debry from flying into somones wind shield I had a brand new truck and this guy in front of me had no mud flaps and a rock hit my wind shield and uglied it up I followed him and pulled him over and his insurance covered it. If it is a rental i am sure it is on them it should be any way

Which rental car companies don't require a credit card?
What are the cash deposit/other requirements?Which rental car companies don't require a credit card?
Hertz, Enterprise, Budget but your debit card must have @ least 300.00 on it.Which rental car companies don't require a credit card?
Use to be plenty of ';Rent a Wreck'; places, older cars etc. Check them out.
I don't know of any, but there are many places where a person can recieve a prepaid card (has the credit card company logo and your name on it). You just don't get credit, more like a gift card.
Check out this site for more info on different kinds.

Does anyone know where someone under the age of 21 can get a rental car in northeast ohio?
Many rental car companies will rent to individuals who are at least 18. They just add a fee to you bill. Last year some friends and I rented a vehicle from enterprise and had to pay a $45 under aged driver fee. Some companies may require that you purchase the additional insurance coverages on the vehicle as well.Does anyone know where someone under the age of 21 can get a rental car in northeast ohio?
at enterprise you can rent if you are under 25, but they will charge you a daily fee for being under 25. It is usually like $50 a day, plus the price of the rental plus insurance. so it will be pricey!Does anyone know where someone under the age of 21 can get a rental car in northeast ohio?
Most rental car agencies will ONLY rent to under 21 if you are military.
