Rental car use ?, I am 20 going with my family to Florida. Can I drive a car that my parents rented?

We need more information. Is your family flying to FL (and driving only in FL) or are you driving a rented vehicle from Point A to FL?

You really need to check with the rental company. My sister totaled my car in PA when I was 23 and I had to pay a ridiculous fee in order to rent. Your parents would have to add you as a driver to the rental agreement, but this could blow their rates out of the water. If you are not on the agreement, you have to be extremely careful since an accident could nullify insurance coverage and your parents could get financially hurt if you are pulled over and not on the rental agreement.Rental car use ?, I am 20 going with my family to Florida. Can I drive a car that my parents rented?
For the major car rental brands, all additional drivers (other than your parents) must be 25 or over, with a valid drivers license and a credit card in their own name. All additional drivers must complete and sign an additional driver form at the rental counter.Rental car use ?, I am 20 going with my family to Florida. Can I drive a car that my parents rented?
Jolly Wheels has pretty low rates for young drivers. You might be able to rent from them, directly. Check them out.

  • Do you know of any rental car companies that let you use a debit card instead of a regular credit card?

Most of them do. The problem is that as soon as you take the car out, they charge your debit card for the full amount that they think your bill would be and don't give you a refund of any extra money until long after the rental. That can be a nasty surprise, especially if you are on vacation and the hotel does the same thing to you when you show up there.Do you know of any rental car companies that let you use a debit card instead of a regular credit card?
I think HERTZ doesDo you know of any rental car companies that let you use a debit card instead of a regular credit card?
None, debit cards have limitations not found on credit cards, which limit how much can be charged to it, per day.
I have used a debit card at avis rental. as long as it has the visa or mastercard logo they should take it. you just have to have the money in the bank.
    Enterprise...some branches will allow it.

Returning a rental car to ORLANDO Airport?

I am renting a car at TAMPA airport soon soon . I am returning the car to ORLANDO.

Has anyone had any difficulty navigating the roads when returing a rental car here when they have never been to this airport before?

I am asking because I will be returning the car at 4 a.m. and am hoping that the directions to the rental return facility will be idiot - proof.Returning a rental car to ORLANDO Airport?
Its easy to find.. just drive to the airport just like u would any other airport and u will see signs up above saying Car Rental.. Terminals.. etc. U cant miss it its right there and u will see signs for rental cars. If your rental car tank was full when u got it some places make u fill it back up before u bring it back..Returning a rental car to ORLANDO Airport?
Orlando Airport is easy to find, even that early in the morning and the closer you get, you'll see cabs, more traffic (even that early-I was there at 4am this morning), you may even see limos. If you're dropping off right at the airport itself and not a location ';close'; to the airport than follow the signs towards the parking garage as that is also where rental drop offs are.
naaaaaah it's SUPER easy. Just take I-4 to 417 (the greenway) there's signs EVERYWHERE on I-4 to the orlando airport. there's no way you'll have problems. since you're in tampa, I'm assuming you know I-4. Please for your own sanity, don't worry about it. Once you get off at the airport exit, you see the car rental road to take. sooooo easy =)
    they are idiot proof.

Does anyone know what happens to a rental car after it is a few years old?

It will usually be sold at auction or in a fleet vehicle sale at a greatly reduced rate. Depends on the condition of the rental vehicle though.Does anyone know what happens to a rental car after it is a few years old?
Usually sold at a used car lot, often in good condition because of the frequent maintenance or if condition is not so great and the mileage is high it goes to an auto auction.Does anyone know what happens to a rental car after it is a few years old?
Sometimes sold on a lot as a Demo. I often wondered about how those cars were treated by all the different drivers though. I mean, whenever I rented a car, I ran it pretty hard.
they usually sell them to the public or to wholesalers
The rental companies typically sell any car that is 2 years old.

Sometimes yo can get a really good deal buying one... some have very low mileage and they have all been maintained regularly if they were owned by a national brand rental company
Usually sold at auction or at a used car sale for a good price
We sell ours after a year in Australia as none of our fleet is over 12 months old here...
We sell ours on both the used car lot and taken to auction. Some companies only keep thier rentals 4 months, others keep them as long as 2 years. A carfax history report will tell you if your vehicle (or the one you are interested in buying) was a rental.

Can I pick any rental car I want at Enterprise, and how much gas will be in it?

You can take any car thats available in the class you pay for. If your reservation is for a vehicle where there are no more available, they'll bump you up to the next class free, or for a small increase in rental fee.

Tank will be full when you drive it away and needs to be full when returned, or you pay their price to fill, which can be upwards of $4.50/Gal.Can I pick any rental car I want at Enterprise, and how much gas will be in it?

  • Can I get a rental car even though I'm 18?

I know Im not able to rent one. But is it possible for my mom to rent it on her credit card then I could pick it up?

I plan on taking a trip to Boulder, CO.Can I get a rental car even though I'm 18?
With few exceptions, Alamo, Avis, Hertz and National require all drivers to be 25 or older. Budget, Dollar, Enterprise and Thrifty rent to drivers over 21, but penalize underage drivers with a daily surcharge. Some even restrict the type of vehicle, making a luxury model or sport utility vehicle off-limits.Can I get a rental car even though I'm 18?
As long as you don't get caught driving it.. Then sure.
You have to be 25 to even drive one
you have to find some kind of closet car rental place if u know what i mean. MOST places will not rent a car to an 18 yr old. and to answer the second part of your question, no. The car rental place has to have the card holder there to pick up the car. and the card holder has to drive off the lot, but after there u can drive it but it will be illegal. i know from experience. i went to cali with my friend and NO ONE would rent us a car. we finally found one guy to do it and we had to get a compact car. Best thing to do is probably have ur mom rent it and pick it up then get it home and u take it from there. and just so you know, most places have mileage restrictions too....
you have to be 21 to even drive the rental cars to the high liability of younger drivers nowadays

The best place to look for this type of discounts is SearchAllDeals. Just start with a search term like ';rental cars';.
Be sure to do your research across different vendors... the best car rental deals tend to be short lived. Here's a few resources for deals from different car rental agencies.
I generally rent from Enterprise because they have good rates and I can usually find a coupon.

You can use a travel consolidator like Orbitz.com to compare rates, and then check for rental car coupons at a coupon site: http://www.couponheaven.com/subcategory.鈥?/a>
It does sound too good to be true, but please keep in mind you pay for what you get. The cheap car may not be up on its maintence, a cheaper quality car (like a Kia or Hyundai), and a year or two old with lots of miles and abuse on it.

Try Toyota Rent A Car. They have competitive rates and have the cleanest, top quality cars.

As long as you have all appropriate documents handy to prove your identity and residency. Have your rental agreement with you as well, to prove you didn't steal the car.

Make sure that your rental car is allowed in Mexico. Most companies do not allow thier cars to cross the border. If they do allow it, make sure the insurance will transfer to that country as well, if you get into an accident, you don't want to be SOL.

My car got hit on the 23, not my fault, does the guilty party have to provide a rental car for me on Monday?

My car got hit on the 23 of December, made for a pretty weird holiday season, my question is: does the guilty party that hit me, does his insurance have to provide a rental tomorrow? I have been without a car for 4 days, and my insurance was only basic liability. Does his insurance have to reimburse me for the tow? Been a nightmare, anyone out there with a similar experince who has some answersMy car got hit on the 23, not my fault, does the guilty party have to provide a rental car for me on Monday?
If the other party is at fault, they will have to cover all your losses. This includes the repairs to your car, the towing, storage, and replacement transportation. Many insurance companies will not provide a rental car, you will have to rent one yourself and they be repaid in the final settlement.

Call the claims office and see if they are willing to provide a rental. My car got hit on the 23, not my fault, does the guilty party have to provide a rental car for me on Monday?
No they don't have to. You can rent one on your own and ask them to reimburse you . You may not be reimbursed though. It depends on their coverage. Have you thought about using your own insurance and letting them do this for you ? Check it out. Call your agent and get the details. Why do people always forget about using their own insurance ? Isn't this what we buy insurance for ?
It should and I took my drivng test December 23rd and failed. =(

I am not sure which company is good to rent from. Anyone rented from this particular location? and any advice?

Thanks.Which rental car company at Chraleston, WV airport do you recommend?
Price check shows most brands within a dollar or two from each other, except Budget which is strangely much more expensive and off airport. If you are under 25 years of age, you might want to consider Enterprise, which is less restrictive in this regard. My personal preference is Hertz for reliably well maintained and staffed locations nationwide and worldwide for that matter.

It depends on the company, but usually your pets can go into the car. You just have to make sure that the dog doesn't damage anything, or they will charge you for the damage. If i get a rental car, could my dog ride in it? Or are there rules on that?
What they don't know won't hurt you!

You will have to spend half the day cleaning out every hair and the slobber marks on the window though. If i get a rental car, could my dog ride in it? Or are there rules on that?
yes the pet can ride with you, most companies will let you pay an extra cleaning charge to remove the hair and whatnot.

Age to drive a rental car?

I know you have to 25 in most states and with most companies to rent a car. But if i rented a car under my name (i'm 45) could i put my son as a additional driver? Its just going to be him and i and i don't want to drive the whole way by myself. He has a valid Drivers License.Age to drive a rental car?
Even as an additional driver, your son has to meet the age requirements of the rental company, and most companies are 25 and up. Some companies will let 21-24 year olds drive, but they will charge underage fees, even if they are listed as additional drivers.Age to drive a rental car?
I believe you still have to be the minimum age that your sates law requires. For example: If you're driving a rental car in Kentucky, you must be at least 21, and on the document of lease.
It's not just the law, it's the car rental companies contract. You have to be at-least 21 to rent a car but they will charge you a high daily fee if your under 25. No one under 21 can rent or drive the car.

I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?

he only ask me so show him proof if the car was in my name, will this go ticket i got go onto my insurance???I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
Trooper reports your license no matter which car you were driving.I was in a rental car and i got a speeding ticket by a state trooper, doing 80 in a 65?
if you took your license and the registration and gave you a ticket, then the ticket will be against your drivers license.

You will probably also get a point. I suggest you take it to court and fight it.
The car didn't speed by itsef, boyo! The ticket goes against your licence. Your insurance will find out at some point in time.
Traffic offenses are tied to your driver's license, not your car. If you pay the fine, your license and insurance can be affected.

I say fight the ticket, assuming you were local when this happened. The last time I fought a speeding ticket, I demanded a written affidavit (official accusation of the violation) from the cop, which is allowed under NY law. I never received the affidavit, and when my ';day in court'; came up, I advised the judge of this. He promptly dismissed the case, saving my license and my wallet from harm.
Yes, this will DEFINITELY affect your insurance.
If you are found guilty of this 15 over offense, and get points on your license as a result, your insurance will be aware of it at renewal time, which may affect your rates.
Yes. You should have gotten a copy of the citation. On it would be listed your driver's license number. Therefore it will go on your license for points. If you have points on your license, depending on the state, you will have a hearing before DOT when your points get to high. This could cause a suspension on your license. I do believe insurance companies periodically check your driving record to see if it is clean. If not up goes your rate.
The ticket will be issued under your drivers license number - most likely he needed that to write you the ticket. It is how you are identified in their system. Therefore, yes DMV will be notified, and when your premium renews, your agent will run your DMV check and most likely this ticket will show up. Since you were only going 15mph over the PSL - you maybe able to do traffic school - which will void the ticket (though you do have to pay the speeding fine).

How old to you have to be to rent or drive a rental car in pa?

I am not certain about this- but when I was younger I was told the age was 21 by rental car companies. I started renting at 21 years old when on leave from the army. Before that I was told that for insurance reasons (high costs) they could not rent to me at 18 y/o. Enterprise seems to be the easiest to deal with but just checking thier web site they restrict the Pittsburgh rental age to 21 or over.

Around 5 hours, going back will be easier. - but because it's San Ferms, think 6h30, because of traffic a little. But more cars on the road, you won't be able to do the 120km/h speed limit, 100km/h at most for most of it

Do you have a tom tom ? You'll need one, although it is ALL fast roads, and you'll be on the A-1 for most of it, you'll need to go on the E-5 near Burgos - some of it is toll roads, - (Autovia del Norte) I think it cost between 10鈧?%26amp; 15鈧? because your on it for so long

but if you leave Madrid follow signs for Zaragoza (most of it is the A-2) then once you get to Aragon folllow signs for Navarra/Pamplona there are less toll booths on this road, and in general less speed cameras, although it could add as much as an extra hour to your jounrey. (Autovia del Nordeste) - I've done this jounrey to get to Portaventua, don't go into Zaragoza though, the country lanes will be faster than the AP-68 to get out of this city depending on the times. - it coat us 5鈧?in toll's going this way (2,50鈧?each way)

I've got a parking ticket in Pamplona before -_- and I live just outside the city ! bl盲 their terrible people - make sure if it's a car park you pay the full amount, if it's a street check the signs.

You might want to leave a day before, or in the night ? take a look on something like Google Earth, there are many routes you can take - you might want to eat lunch in Burgos on the way ? or stay in a motel, or do the journey in one go.

From Pamplona, to get back to Madrid is EASY leave through the N-111 and there sign posts to many of the major cities - do take an extra day to look around Navarra, maybe cross into the French border ? or visit Donostia if it's Sunny, anywhere more than an hour away from Pamplona, their hotel's won't be fully booked and their rates will be reasonable. - the roads into Pamplona will be very busy, maybe if you have a Tom tom, tell it to avoide all Toll roads - it will say it take's longer, but because of the cars it won't. The city usually doubles in size for San Ferms, so you can imagine the traffic not only comming in, But many people who live here leave for a G卯te in France for the week. -you've seen San Ferms once you've seen them all =]Im going to drive a rental car from Madrid to Pamplona, I need some advice!?

Does anyone have a reco for a good rental car service with low rental rates in Houston?

I've always had good luck with Enterprise in Houston. They have lots of offices and will pick you up and drop you off. I can't guarantee they are the cheapest as this can vary with the car you choose and even the location where you rent.

Keep in mind that you will get a better rate if it is an insurance deal. Many of the rental car companies (especially Enterprise) will offer a lower rate, sometimes more than 50% lower, if they know an insurance company is paying. Also, try to avoid renting cars at airports. In most cities there is an exra tax applied to airport car rentals that you won't have to pay if you rent outside the airport.Does anyone have a reco for a good rental car service with low rental rates in Houston?
If you do a little calling before you need a car it could ave you a few bucks.

    call them in advance

If youcall the 800 number they would offer a better deal.

Also tell them that you have been comparing prices and how much you like THERE company.

  • Traveling on a bugdet, what are some tips you can share I'm flying and will need a rental car?

    Hi,

I too travel on a tight budget, as although the company pays for everything, I love a deal.

Air travel costs can be kept down by booking well in advance.

Don't rent a car at the destination airport.

The likes of Hertz %26amp; Avis are a rip-off.

Get a cab into town. The cabbie will know of a cheap %26amp; cheerful bloke with cars to rent.

Never stay in a ';chain'; hotel, such as Holiday Inn, Hilton, Sheraton, Howard Johnson, etc.

Always use a family run place, but not grot.

Half the price %26amp; better service.

If you are going long haul somewhere, no probs with service included, but if short-haul, take a hip flask of booze and a bag of muffins.

    Best of luck !

BobTraveling on a bugdet, what are some tips you can share I'm flying and will need a rental car?
If your flying on a plane that doesn't offer complimentary snack and drink (who does anymore!?) bring along a small snack and juice box (aluminum/plastic opened bottles not allowed) and snack on those, and if you can avoid ''checking'' any bags, just take a carry on to avoid baggage fees. Go with the most economical/small/compact car the rental place offers.

Which Rental Car service has the cheapest long term rates? I need a car for a month.?

Rent a WreckWhich Rental Car service has the cheapest long term rates? I need a car for a month.?
Yes rent a wreck if you are in NZ or Ausie
You can rent with any car rental company for a month, but if your rental is for 29 days or more it will be easier with Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz or National. They all allow rentals of more than 28 days.

Dollar, Thrifty and Alamo have a 28 day maximum rental. In order to book for 29 days or more, you would have to make 2 separate reservations and return one vehicle at the end of 28 days and pick up another one.

Check the price for each company you want to rent with. Some have specials for long term rentals. If you have a entertainment book, there are coupons for long term rentals as well. Also check to see if you have any discount associations that will lower your price. (such as an auto club membership or travel club membership or professional association. You can find a list of possible membership discount codes at http://www.best-car-rental-tips.com/disc鈥?/a>

Make sure to check the difference between a 28 day rental and a 29 to 31+ day rental. You may find a big difference - Hope this helps!

Rental car theft. The car was recovered one day after. Should the rental car call me to their place ?

Should the rental car call me to their place to show me tha damages of the car or even made a phone call that the car was found and should they give an on the spot estimate or call me on the phone or mailed me a letter regarding the damage of a stolen car? I rented a car the loss of one day i asked my visa insurance to pay it its 56$. SO i told the rental to deal with them abt the 56$. What happened I did not know that they were askin my insurance damages for the car I rented w/c is 545$. I did not receive a letter dat there were damages. Is this acceptable? 4 months after the recovery of the car they sent me a letter stating that my visa did not pay the 545$ and I should pay it. They also sent me a quotation of their company but not the quotation of the vendor were they said they bought the parts. There was is Wheel kit that cost 310. What was that ? Do i have to question them about this and ask them for police report of the damages when the car was found?Rental car theft. The car was recovered one day after. Should the rental car call me to their place ?
When you rent a vehicle, you sign a contract that gives you certain rights and responsibilities. Yo agree to bring the car back at or before a certain time, in the same basic condition as you rented it (no additional damage). Many rental car companies offer damage wavers at an additional charge. If you chose not to pay that, you are agreeing to take full responsibility for any and all costs. You most likely can be held liable for ';loss of use'; also, which means that while the car is being repaired, you have to pay rent on it, because they are not able to rent it to someone else!

You may have coverage under a credit card, or under your personal car insurance policy, but this does not mean that the car rental company must deal with either of them. You should pay the repairs, and file claims for reimbursement with any other coverage you have.

Pay the bill. They will sue you and you will lose. You will then have to pay the legal expenses too.Rental car theft. The car was recovered one day after. Should the rental car call me to their place ?
again- you will absolutely be responsible.

When you signed the contract with them you stated that you would pay for any damages that happened to the car until the car was safely back in their hands. Well, the car was damaged.. and now you owe.

I guarantee that they have documents and pictures to back up their claim for damage and they will likely let you take a look at it. But you dont have many rights beyond that... they are a big car company.. they arent trying to rip you off.. they just want their rental back in preloss condition.

It doesnt matter that they took 4 months to notify you.. that doesnt affect anything. It probably took them that long to get it fixed... get all the receipts.. submit it to visa.. have it get denied.. and then call you.

Sorry charlie.. you didnt pay for the coverages.. you owe this. Pay it timely or you can expect collections companies to call you and your credit to be affected.
i think you should call visa and see why they did not cover it...if they did not want to pay for it there might be a valid reason. find out why....

Does the cost of a rental car go up or down the longer you wait to reserve a car?

only on holiday weekendsDoes the cost of a rental car go up or down the longer you wait to reserve a car?
Sometimes it does, sometimes you can do really well if you rent on the spot. Depends on the company and on the current inventory at that particular store.
Some places may have specials if you reserve the car early but most of the time you'll find out they have a flat rate and that it doesn't matter when you reserve the car.
It all depends on how their inventory is. Typically farther out is better though. I like to use hotwire.com for rental cars it is similar to priceline but you don't name your price and they give you more information about your car.
Maybe. I worked for years for a car rental call center and it really depends on what they have. Say a rental center has 100 cars. They will give a cheaper rate because they have no business. As they rent cars the price changes till they have a few cars with a high price.

  • Orlando Holy Land Experience. Estimated cost of 4 day stay: hotel, and rental car.?

Holy Land can be done in a day it is a small park. If it is your bday they also let you in for free just like Disney. Hotel depends on location the nearest ones would be in International Dr area.

http://www.kayak.com/?kw=kayak%26amp;product=a鈥?/a>Orlando Holy Land Experience. Estimated cost of 4 day stay: hotel, and rental car.?
Well, I was having a bit of a hard time trying to find flights since I didn't know how many people are traveling with you... So I assume it is a family of 4.

Flights : If you flew southwest for a family of 4 it would be $876 flying non-stop from Philly to Orlando, and Orlando to Philly. Southwest is cheap and probably your best bet for flights.

Hotel: I chose international drive for your hotel, because it's closest to the Holy Land Experience. It is also close to lots of shopping, restaurants, Universal Studios and Sea World. I Chose the Orlando Wingate by Wyndham, because its a well known company, and found it would be $307.29 for 4 nights.

Rental Car : It will probably be 103 $ + to rent from Avis. I'm sure you can find cheaper, but we've always rented from Avis and our cars are always in good condition.

Tickets : $35 at the gate for adults, $30 online. $20 for children and $15 online.

Anyways I hope this helps a bit.
You really cannot spend more than a day here, so you might need to be looking at what else you want to do. You might want to consider purchasing an Orlando guidebook. To get a rought estimate of what a trip would cost, try using a travel agent website such as Travelocity or Expedia. Plug in some travel dates and see what comes back. It's really impossible to tell you how much without knowing when.
why in the world would you want to go to the Holy Land Experience?

there are sooo many better things to do in orlando

that is a really stupid place to go

Illegal To Drive Rental Car Under 21?

If someone over the age of 25 rents a car, would it be considered illegal for someone (20 years old) who wasn't listed on the rental agreement to drive it, even if that person had a vaild US drivers license and insurance?Illegal To Drive Rental Car Under 21?
The answer is suppose to be vary by person. From my personal view, always it is a good idea to hear the voices from different sides and try to decide the best one. Here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm is a good one that i recommend.Illegal To Drive Rental Car Under 21?
Yes, it would be considered to be a violation of the terms and conditions of the rental agreement that the renter signed. Rental car companies require that additional drivers must be 25 or over and must be present at the rental counter to complete and sign an additional driver form.

If the rental car was damaged in any way (by the renter or unauthorized driver) the renter of the vehicle would be fully responsible for any damages to the car... any insurance coverage that they had or had purchased would be considered null and void, because they had violated the terms and conditions on their rental agreement.
It would definitely be a civil violation, and possibly fraud.

If there was an accident, both the underage driver and the renter would be sued and, depending on the severity of the accident, the District Attorney could file charges.

Rottondog93 is wrong. There would not be charges for a stolen car, because the rental company ';entrusted'; the car to the renter, and then the renter ';entrusted'; the car to the second driver. The charges I think likely would involve negligence, reckless endangerment, etc.
It's not illegal as in go to jail illegal but it is a breach of the contract the person signed. It could lead to them being sued by the rental company should something happen to the car.
Should you have an accident while driving the car, the rental company by all rights can have you charged with stealing the car.
Yes...........it would be completely illegal and you would not be covered if you had an accident.

Is it good idea to buy a rental car?

im looking to but a car it is rental and has a clean history? is there anything i should have checked out..? if i decide to purchase it?Is it good idea to buy a rental car?
Not really, everybody and their brother has beat the living SH** out of them.Is it good idea to buy a rental car?
Smart to buy two at a time. Use one for parts.
If its a manual make sure all the gears change smooth. Syncros might be stuffed. If it was from a good rental yard it will have been serviced regularly and this would be a good thing. It may have been driven rough by a few drivers but it still should be ok if new enough. Stay away if done over 100km
I've bought several over the years. As long as you've seen the service history and it hasn't been in any major accidents, you should be ok.

Sure, people beat the heck out of rental cars, but at least the rental agency changes the oil (they HAVE to according to the deals they cut with the car makers). When you buy a used car from a private party, you don't know what you're getting unless they have all the maintenance receipts.

Should i accept a rental car in auto wreck?

insurance companys offer is too low,if i dont accept a rental will i get more moneyShould i accept a rental car in auto wreck?
so - your car is a total loss? If that's the case, getting a rental won't make any difference on the value of your vehicle. If it's CLOSE to being a total loss the rental could make a difference but more than likely not enough of a difference to keep the vehicle from being a total loss.

And - if you think the ';off is too low'; - you can present documentation to support your case that they should offer you more money. WHY do you think it's too low? Show them why. Did they leave something out on their evaluation? Check it to make sure it includes everything it should include.

Good luck.Should i accept a rental car in auto wreck?
The cost of the rental car does not effect the insurance settlement.

Also if you do get a rental car provided by your insurance company it does not include the auto insurance for the rental car that is an optional. So its either pay for insurance (which is charged per day you have the rental) or don't get the insurance and risk having to pay for any damage received while you have had the car (Just so you know they will charge you for the most minor scratches).
The rental has nothing to do with the settlement offer. If you do not agree with the settlement, go through your insurance company and have them subrogate the other company. Also, the insurance company should be able to front your deductible so you will not have to spend anything out of pocket.
Accept it, You won't get more money by not accepting
No you don't get more money!

What size rental car should I get in Ireland???

Hi! My family %26amp; I (4 adults) will be going to Ireland in July and renting a car. I've heard that the roads are narrow. What size rental car should I get???What size rental car should I get in Ireland???
Nothing less than a midsize for 4 adults (remember luggage too). Bigger if you can afford it. The minor roads are narrow but not so bad that a midsize will be troublesome. The majority of major roads are decent (if busy). That said it's the minor roads that'll you'll be using for scenic drives and sighseeing. On parts of the ring of kerry the roads are narrow and twisty - 35mph would be normal on certain bad stretches.

Having said that renting a car is the best way to see Ireland. The freedom of choice makes it a hundred times better that an escorted coach tour.

If you're comfortable driving a stick shift (manual) you'll save a lot on rental fees. Also if you've got a US Gold or Platinum mastercard, use it for the car rental as it's the only credit card that covers you for excess insurance in Ireland. What size rental car should I get in Ireland???
The smallest one that will fit the 4 of you plus luggage.

    Also, gas is VERY expensive.
Rent a '2 door speck' and a siphon hose.
the smallest you can find! ;)
I spent a month driving right around Ireland last year and had no trouble with the roads - they're in great condition mostly - normal country roads. Just don't recon on getting anywhere in a hurry, there are often flocks of sheep or herds of cows being moved from farm to farm as well as tractors and farm machinery on the roads. Just take your time. Ireland is great for driving. Get a normal car that you'll all be comfortable in.
Would suggest a Ford Mondeo / Opel Vectra / Nissan Primera / Toyota Avensis size car. These are very common rental cars so easy to come by.

They will seat four adults in comfort and have a reasonably sized trunk.
The roads here aren't small(only if compared to American roads) and only in the countryside are they narrow and bendy! Any regular sized car will do...

  • What are the pros and cons when buying insurance for a rental car?

There are 2 pros for buying this insurance. First of all, it avoids the hassle of filing a claim with your own insurance company if you are involved in an accident, and second, rental car companies will try to charge you for loss of use while the car is being repaired.

The cons are that it is probably the most expensive auto insurance coverage you can buy. It duplicates coverage that most companies give their insureds anyway. The loss of use charge is usually handled by your insurance company anyway. What are the pros and cons when buying insurance for a rental car?
Pro is that it is very easy to deal with incase of an accident or issue. The con is that it is expensive.

My personal auto insurance covers me when I drive a rental car so I do not usually get the extra insurance when I rent a car. The con??? If I get in an accident I have to pay for the damages and repairs- then I have to file with my auto insurance to get my money back or reimbursed. I am ok with that because I will get my money back from my insurance carrier. The con is having to deal with it.What are the pros and cons when buying insurance for a rental car?
pro, is that if you do something to the car it covers everything and con is if u dont do anything to the car then u waste a lot of money

We are planning a trip to San Francisco in Oct. do you think we can get away with not getting a rental car?

We aren't sure where we are staying yet, I was thinking the financial district. We want to do Muir Woods, visit the bridge, Chinatown, Alcatraz and Fisherman's warf. Can we do this cheaply on cable cars or buses or are we better off renting a car? Anything else you think we really need to see while there? We are planning a trip to San Francisco in Oct. do you think we can get away with not getting a rental car?
There's no need for a rental car, especially with your itinerary.

Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, and Golden Gate Park are all accessible using buses, subways, and surface trams. Fares are $1.50 in the city proper (for a 2 hour period).

Cable Cars are $5.00 one-way and S-L-O-W, so if there's a bus, subway, or tram... locals will always take those.

Subway fares to SFO International Airport is $5.15 one-way.

Alcatraz is a national park, and the number of people allowed on the island is strictly controlled by the federal government. You'll need to book a ferry and tour beforehand (it's a good idea to do this several days before your planned visit to ensure a seat).

    http://www.nps.gov/alcatraz

Muir Woods you can do through a Grey Line or Blue and Gold Fleet bus tour. Fortunately, they'll do all the talking on the way over, and leave you alone to wander when you get there (which is what most people want).

They always stop by Sausalito, an artsy and wealthy Italian-American enclave. This is where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spends much of her free time when she's not in Washington DC, BTW. Read into that what you will. Heh.

    http://sanfranciscosightseeing.com/

http://blueandgoldfleet.com/We are planning a trip to San Francisco in Oct. do you think we can get away with not getting a rental car?
Pier 39 is a wonderful location to visit in SF. I gave you a link to it below. The classic line-up of San Francisco tourist attractions includes breathtaking vistas, interesting architecture and copious amounts of the city鈥檚 quirky character. Many head down to Fisherman鈥檚 Wharf for a bowl of chowder or to watch barking seals before waiting in line for a tour of Alcatraz Island, the infamous federal prison. Nearby, the acclaimed theatrical world of Teatro Zinzanni is popular with locals and tourists.

Fans of traditional Victorian homes won鈥檛 want to miss the Painted Ladies at Alamo Square framed by the downtown skyline. Lookouts like Coit Tower and Twin Peaks encompass views of the entire Bay from the Marin headlands to the Berkeley Hills, and a drive out to Ocean or Baker beach will afford you a sweeping panorama of the vast Pacific.

Golden Gate Park is the obvious choice for visitors, but San Francisco has many smaller and important parks in virtually every neighborhood. Throw back a brown-bagged, 24 oz. Tecate in hipster heaven at Dolores Park; see new moms pamper their children at the playground atop Pacific Heights at Alta Plaza; watch kitesurfers and sailboarders tear through waves at Chrissy Field; observe tennis ball launchers used to maximize canine exertion in the Panhandle; join elderly Chinese at dawn for Tai Chi and Qigong (traditional calisthenics) in Washington Square.

If you can avoid the temptation to rent a car, you鈥檒l get to know San Francisco as many locals know it: by public transportation and by foot. Once in San Francisco, BART and the Muni Metro system run down Market Street (SF鈥檚 major lifeline) and branch off along two main corridors heading South and West. If your desired destination is far from these routes, the Muni buses are your best bet and run very regularly almost all day. Maps are posted at all BART and Muni stations so you can scout your path ahead of time.
Sure! I would suggest using the mass transit system which is reasonable in cost, has frequent service to nearly all bay area destinations and would avoid the traffic mess. SF Muni is the local provider in the city and operates the buses, streetcars, cable cars and subway/LRV. If your travels take you outside of the city, BART trains travel to mosts parts of the five county region as do the regional buses ran by various providers in each respective county. Often you can purchase an all day pass for a given system. Good Luck!
You can see some things on public transportation. However, to go out of town (Muir Woods) you'll need a car. You have to cross the Golden Gate Bridge to get there, so you could do both on the same day.

If you're staying in the financial district, Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf are easily accessible. You get the boat to Alcatraz from Fisherman's Wharf.
    easy bus everywhere
Driving a rental car in San Francisco will ruin your vacation. You will end up frazzled and annoyed with no place to park and if you do find a place to park, it will cost 25+dollars. Use public transportation: trolley, muni, BART, cabs or walk for anything you want to see in the city and rent a car only for muir woods.

It took me 2.5 days to drive from Toronto to Vancouver(in the dead of winter...twice) so I would knock off about 18 hours from Calgary to Vancouver, and maybe 3-4 hours because of bad driving conditions through the Rockies, and add 4 from Montreal to Toronto, I would guess a day and a half to just under 2 days, depending on your route, and how often and length of stops. After all it only took me 18 hours on the nose to drive from Toronto to New Glasgow, NS. I would have been there sooner, but I had to wait about an hour and a half for a gas station to open in New Brunswick.;)

The car would be taken out under my Dad's name, and yes my Dad will be with me.Can I drive a rental car out-of-state with only a drivers permit
the car can go out of state but your permit might not be ok in the other stateCan I drive a rental car out-of-state with only a drivers permit
You can do what ever you want.

But if the car was to be involved in an accident, the insurance would not cover you.

    ===

Don't do it. Wait till you get home and drive under your father's car insurance. You are still a beginner and the chance of getting into an accident is very high. You need the insurance.

    Good Luck...
    yes you can

Can i use a rental car for my driving test to get my lisence?

in oklahoma. cant tell u more specific detailsCan i use a rental car for my driving test to get my lisence?
usually yes.... you have to have the papers with yourself listed as one of the drivers and the insurance stuffCan i use a rental car for my driving test to get my lisence?
Probably not, bc aside from 1/ any age requirements that the rental company may have ie minimum 21 or 25 yrs of age, AND...

#2 Your own Collision Damage Insurance Waiver, or Credit Card CDW insurance or the car rental insurance that they sell for a profit...

#3... Most Car Rental companies require the renter to be the ONLY driver (spouses excepted) AND that ALL drivers have a VALID license.

A learners permit is not considered a valid drivers license.

If you were to have an accident before/during the drivers test while you have control of the vehicle - even with ';the renter'; beside you, it is very unlikely ANY insurance company would pay for the damages. If it occurred after getting your license, they could still allege fraud by you.
Only if you're old enough to actually drive a rental car. In most places, you have to be 21 or over.
lol damn what you need a drivers license for if you dont have a car lol dumb as

  • Should I accept insurance from a rental car company?

like what the prior person said...depends on what kind of coverage you have...depending on the current coverage you have it may be duplicating your insurance. definitely contact your agent first to make sure your insurance coverage would transfer if you got in a rental.Should I accept insurance from a rental car company?
In almost all cases you won't need it.

In fact in my state, the law specifially says your own insurance is primary and it requires language on the rental contract saying you don't need the insurance offered by the rental car company.

One word of caution, however, not all policies will actually pay for ';loss of use'; which means if you wreck their car, your insurance will pay to fix it but may not compensate the rental firm for the lost revenue.Should I accept insurance from a rental car company?
No. Most carriers of your normal auto insurance will cover what the rental companies are trying to sell you. Check with your agent first.

Is there any way to take a trip to Death Valley from the Las Vegas strip if I don't have a rental car?

And how far is Death Valley from Vegas? Is there any way to take a trip to Death Valley from the Las Vegas strip if I don't have a rental car?
Here's one example of a Death Valley Net'l Park tour from Vegas - $199, 10.5 hrs. in an SUV. Four persons minimum.

    http://shop.vegas.com/tours/tour.jsp?tou鈥?/a>

This 11-hr jaunt is a little cheaper and runs Oct-May (not this time of year).

    http://shop.vegas.com/tours/tour.jsp?tou鈥?/a>

I see that both of these can be booked online. Is there any way to take a trip to Death Valley from the Las Vegas strip if I don't have a rental car?
check travel agents for tours i'm sure there are some
u can go in ur car
The guy above me is an idiot. Death Valley is only about 140 miles from Las Vegas. It is a 2 hour drive. It's in California, not Nevada, and it's hot; you need a car.

He's probably thinking of Monument Valley.
u can walk but it'd be kinda hard....and no clue
    http://www.looktours.com/bus.html

    this company does tours
There is no way to get to Death Valley from Las Vegas without a car. I don't remember exactly, in miles, how far it was, but the first Christmas we lived in Las Vegas we drove over to Death Valley and it was a very long, all day trip. Figure 10 to 12 hours if you are going to drive it. But that will take you into Death Valley from the Devil's Racetrack to Scotty's Castle and down to Furnace Creek, easily in that time.
    bustour
there is a bus tour, but if you have never taking a bus tour before they suck.

just rent a car and get a map. you will probably be much hapier that you did. if you do go, don't forget to go to Dante's Peak.
Sure, when we were in Vegas in 2003, we booked a 12 hour tour (in van or RV) that included a ghost town and several stops in Death Valley including Scottys Castle. Plus, you get picked up and dropped off at your hotel.

I am going to Carolina Puerto Rico, do I need a rental car? staying for 8 days?

how easy the public transportation is? I am not sure if I need a rental car, can anyone give me an idea?

staying in ESJ hotel and casino, any recommendation in restaurants?

    Thanks,

PhoebeI am going to Carolina Puerto Rico, do I need a rental car? staying for 8 days?
If you are staying the whole time in San Juan then I would say No you dont need a rental car. Carolina is about 15 minutes from your hotel (without traffic). San Juan has taxi's %26amp; buses for you to get around %26amp; sometimes they dont even allow you to drive in the Old San Juan neighborhood.

But, 8 days is quite a bit of time. You might want to rent a car for a few days to go explore other parts of the island. Some places like el Yunque rain forest %26amp; Arecibo Telescope have bus tours, but they are quite expensive %26amp; you go by someone elses schedule. If you do decide to rent a car go to Thrifty, Dollar or Payless rental near the aiport. They are cheaper priced. Also see if your credit card will cover the insurance so you dont have to. Enjoy :)

    ---------------------

    ADDED:

Yes you can reserve the car online or by phone before you go. An economy car runs about $30 per day at the places I listed. You can call them directly or go to a sight like orbitz or hotwire to find the best price.I am going to Carolina Puerto Rico, do I need a rental car? staying for 8 days?
Definitely rent a car for at least a few days of your trip.

ESJ is great, nice area, lots of restaurants and some shopping close by, but the public transportation system is bad, so you are limited. And the taxi fares add up quickly.

You need to have a car to really enjoy PR. There is so much to do outside the SJ area. The hotel offers tours, but they inflate the price so much, a car rental would be cheaper. And taxi would be expensive.

Be aware, ESJ charges for parking. There is a public parking lot across the street, not too far down from the hotel that might be cheaper.

For ideas of fun stuff to do and see, check out my travel site:

I think you should not rent a car. Carolina is only 10-15 minutes from San Juan, and also you can take public transportation A.M.A. You should visit ';El Condado'; and go to the Ajili-Mojili Restaurant or Bebos's Restaurant and grill, it's very nice. Another place you can go is to '; La Ventana al Mar'; @ Condado you can go at day or night. I hope u enjoy your trip. I am a puertorrican lady that used to live in Carolina so my best wishes =D
I would advise it, as long as it is not too expensive. There are many beautiful parts of Puerto Rico you may want to check out. And it's always nice having the convience of your own car.

Definatly rent it in advance! No doubt about that!
Rent a car! There's nothing like feeling independent. If it rains, if you are running late, whatever, now you are stuck. rent a car girl!

Once you are there check the phone book for the type of food you like, Italian, Asian, Indian, Puerto Rican, etc.

I hit a car driving in a rental car. Should i fix it, then report it the accident?

Only if you didn't get the insurance. But why fix it then report it? Shouldn't you report it then fix it?I hit a car driving in a rental car. Should i fix it, then report it the accident?
You should have reported the accident when it happened. Now you could face a hit and run charge. Your own car insurance should pay for the wreck, or you may have purchased the rental car insurance from the company? If you and the other driver know each other and are communicating...you can decide between yourselves how to handle it, but be careful because you have to clear any repairs YOU have done...through the rental company.I hit a car driving in a rental car. Should i fix it, then report it the accident?
If you paid for insurance when you rented the car Let the rental company deal with it.
no its their car let them deal with itit stil goes aganst ur insurance
no report it now...it is in your lease with the car rental company

Good rental car places in Los Angeles?

I will be in Los Angeles this summer for about 6-8 weeks and I will need a car. The only problem is I'm 19, turning 20 this summer. Most rental agencies do not allow people under 21 or in some cases 25 to rent cars. Is there any other way to obtain a car? Your help is greatly appreciated.Good rental car places in Los Angeles?
From what I heard, the Ugly Ducking gives rentals to those under 21. Not sure though.

**Who says there was a body placed in the rental car 25 days after the Mccanns rented the car?**?

Why must it have been a body which was placed in that car 25 daysafter it was rented by the McCanns. Everyone keeps talking about the impossibility of the McCanns being able to dispose of a body 25 days after Madeleine McCann went missing because they were under so much media scrutiny.

But why does it have to have been a body that was in the boot. What if it was simply items of clothing or something else tangible which had their daughter scent/stains on. that they were trying to dispose of after the event.

They could have put anything which looked innocuous in the boot of that car without drawing a single glance from anyone. They could have shoved incriminating clothing into a plastic bag and put it in the boot and no one would have thought anything of it!**Who says there was a body placed in the rental car 25 days after the Mccanns rented the car?**?
first off, the car was rented 25 days after Maddie disappeared, so the McCanns did not have possession of the vehicle when their child was reported as missing.

Secondly, if there was blood evidence of that child being in that particular vehicle, I would suspect that they are involved. The odds of someone renting the same vehicle that was used in a crime nearly a month before is almost nil. And frankly, if that were the case, why have they not brought in the person that rented that vehicle at the time of the abduction and the days following? And I agree, they could have just been getting rid of evidence, but then they should know where the body is, right?

Everyone is trying to see both sides, but when it comes right down to it, the parents of this child obviously had issues. They left her ALONE in an apartment while they went out to dinner. In the U.S., people get their children taken away from them for acts like that..it's criminal child neglect.**Who says there was a body placed in the rental car 25 days after the Mccanns rented the car?**?
so you are saying it was Maddies blooded clothes in the car, makes sense to me
Not 25 days after Madeleine was reported missing.

On the night she went missing!

The only explanation that fits the evidence is that a kidnapper abducted Madeleine (using force and causing some blood loss) and stowed her in the boot of a rent-a-car which he used to get away.

The McCann's just happen to rent the same car 25 days later.

Bad luck for Gerry and Kate? Maybe not. Find out who had the car on May 3 and you will have your 4th suspect.
they couldve made an invisible pink unicorn out of string as well

    but without proof nobody knows
i dont really no to be honest no one dues the maccans are comming back to leicester to day and hopefully it will be a warm welcome but no one noes that they no what happend or if htey no who did it or what but it sound horrible to say this but i think that the maccans are hideing somtink in the story! i dont think they killed her but i think sometink happend with the family for this to happen.

  • Hi I went to NEwyork last week in a rental car from my state.?

I was issued a ticket for parking before fire hydrant.Unfortunately I lost my ticket and i forgot the ticket number. Is there anyother way I can get a duplicate copy of ticket.I checked with NYC DMV office and they are asking for my ticket number. Can somebody help me??Hi I went to NEwyork last week in a rental car from my state.?
Ask the rental car company for the plate number. There is a place online where you can search for any tickets for that plate number. Remember to get the state the car is licensed in - you'll need to input that info as well.

Once you do a search for that plate, it should turn up your ticket.Hi I went to NEwyork last week in a rental car from my state.?
try online maybe you can put in your plate number and pull up the ticket that way.

I think the plate number should be on your rental receipt. or just ask the rental agency. the follow up ticket will be sent to them and they probably bill it back to you..

Is it fair or unfair that rental car companies do not allow people to rent under the age of 25? need websites!?

What are several websites that debate both sides of this debate? Is it fair or unfair that rental car companies do not allow people to rent under the age of 25? need websites!?
I believe they can rent to whoever they like, as long as the renter possesses a valid driver's license.

By the way, every major rental car company I've been to WILL rent to drivers under the age of 25. I heard this rumor myself when I was a young driver. It turns out that you just have to purchase supplementary insurance based upon the increased risk of damage to the vehicle, so it costs more to do so.

Even if this were true, I would say it's fair. Renting a car (and driving a rented car) is a privilege, not a right. Is it fair or unfair that rental car companies do not allow people to rent under the age of 25? need websites!?
I think is is fair and completely up to the company whether or not they will rent cars to persons under 25yoa. It is their cars at stake and they can make whatever rules they want. Once it becomes competition with other car rental places, rules change.

Maybe some of these websites will help...

I think it is completely unfair. I am under the age of 25 and am going on holiday to queensland and it has made it really hard having to get my friend to hire the car instead. I can understand the concern but still think it is unfair. It did work out for us in the end cause we are just going to hire an 8 seat and go half's.
fair? yes it is fair. They have made a business decision based on history showing that younger drivers are more likely to trash the car. The have decided that it makes better business sense to simply forego the business because they are likely to cost to much.

I am 18 and need a rental car, anyone know of places that would rent to me?

I am up in northern california(chico) would anyone know anything around here that would rent a car to me i'm only 18 i dont mind the charges as long as the arent sky high. please help me!!I am 18 and need a rental car, anyone know of places that would rent to me?
in the US you cannot rent a car if you are 18.I am 18 and need a rental car, anyone know of places that would rent to me?
I don't think it matters how old you are

I think it matters if you have a credit card or not

although I might not know what I am talking about because I have never rented a car in California.
That guy who said you CANT rent a car at 18 does not know what he is talking about. It aggravates me that ignorant people provide answers for questions without actually doing any research or having any knowledge about the subject. Rentawreck is a rental agency that rents vehicles to people over 18. Their website is www.rentawreck.com . If you are under 21 you are however required I think to provide a copy of your insurance. You also might have to pay an extra fee. I suggest going to their website and calling up the location you are interested in renting from for more information. Hope this helps and good luck.
It's been awhile since I had to do this (I'm 31), but I vaguely remember renting at Budget when I was 23. I recall that there was a surcharge (something like $10/day), but it was doable.
You might try a car dealer also.

What will happen if you drop a rental car off after hours with key and contract in door?

car is late by 3 daysWhat will happen if you drop a rental car off after hours with key and contract in door?
You will be responsible for the possible theft and/or any damage done to the car while it sits there after hours. There may be a warrant out for your arrest right now this minute for grand theft auto. If you turn it in before the police catch up with you, the charge might end up being failure to return a hired vehicle on time. Either way you or who ever rented the car is in big trouble. What will happen if you drop a rental car off after hours with key and contract in door?
someone might come along and steal it. then you will be blamed for it. that's very risky man. just show up the next day and be prepared to pay for penalties....

驴Can i drive in Nevada but with a rental car?

Hi, im a mexican citizen and i have my driver licences but im 15 years old and i will like to know if i can drive a rental car驴Can i drive in Nevada but with a rental car?
15 is too young to be able to rent or drive a rental car in Nevada, or any US state.

Most companies have a minimum age of 21, with an underage surcharge for renters aged 21 to 24... the lowest rental age possible tends to be through rent a wreck (some locations will allow a minimum age of 18, with an underage surcharge).驴Can i drive in Nevada but with a rental car?
Most USA car rental agencies won't rent to anyone under age 25. Even though you can get a driver's license at 16 and legally enter a contract at 18; they save money on insurance by excluding age 18 to 24 since that's one of the highest priced demographic groups to insure.
No. No rental car agencies will allow anyone under 25 to rent a car or be a registered driver on a rental car.

Plus you can't legally drive in Nevada if you're under 16.
25 to rent a car in the USA. Even at 15 if a person let you have the car, you may not drive here. Have to be 17 ..

    Next time. enjoy the visit.
No. You can't in the US. You have to be 16 to drive here.
Have to be 25 to rent a car in Las Vegas. Also you have to be 16 to drive a private car here.
NO you have to be over 18 and in most cases 21 to get a rental in US
    No Senor. Must be 18

I hit a car in my appt parking lot ! shud i pay for her rental car which she did without discussing with me?

I hit this car and bear at fault and paying for her damage to her insurance company ! After 4 months she asks me to pay for her rental car which is $350 for 2 weeks ! The incident happened 4 months back and shes asking for the rental car money now ! Do i need to pay her ? Plz help me out !I hit a car in my appt parking lot ! shud i pay for her rental car which she did without discussing with me?
Was this person in the car when you hit it? Didn't they have insurance? Usually insurance pays for damages if the other driver doesn't have insurance. That's what the uninsured/underinsured coverage is for. But you need to look at it like this, do you want this ordeal done and over with? Then tell them you can't afford to pay for the rental. (If anything they should've had you pay for the rental and let their insurance pay for repairs.) Maybe you can make peace by offering to pay half.I hit a car in my appt parking lot ! shud i pay for her rental car which she did without discussing with me?
Two weeks? Just how fast were you driving? You need a copy of her repair estimate %26amp; bill -- they all have hours of labor (body and refinish) listed on them. Add them together and see how long they actually spent repairing the car, i.e; let's say there were 13.5 hours body labor and 8.5 hours refinish, that only amounts to 22.0 hours, or appx two working days. Even allowing for an extra day and a weekend you are only looking at five days she needed a rental. This is exactly how insurance companies do it --- get out your calculator tonight.

You are not obligated to pay this amount back to her insurance company as they did not have any coverage for this. I would be willing to pay for a resonable amount of rental (call it stupid tax) but she would have to convince me, and prehaps a judge in small claims court, why she needed it for so long. One last note: you do NOT have to reinburse her for any 'additional' rental charges such as mileage overages and added insurance. (be sure and verify the dates on the rental)
Do you not have insurance? Your insurance should pay if her coverage pays for that.

If not, she can probably sue you for it.

$350 is pretty reasonable for 2 weeks rental, So it doesn't seem like she is trying to rip you off. Have you seen the receipt for the rental? or did you notice her driving a rental car? She may just have borrowed her brothers car for two weeks.

Is the bear going to be OK?
pay half of it you do have to live next to her
Before you criticize someone for renting a car for a reasonable amount of $350, perhaps you need to be more critical of your situation of being so irresponsible driving without insurance. Simply put, this person did you a favor by filing it under their own insurance and not calling the cops, which would've ended up with you having a suspended license and an SR-22 filing for the next 5 years. Why should this other person have to pay the money that is clearly due to your carelessness. Put yourself in their position.... I would not have given you the break. The cops would've been called and along with paying for every single cent of damages out of your pocket (and not filing it under my own insurance) along with punative damages to make you learn a lesson of how important insurance is. What if someone was in that car and was hurt? You have no insurance, which does mean the party that has suffered damages could take you to court to recover all damages. If someone is rushed to the hospital in a helicopter... well that's about $50k out of your pocket just for the ride, not to mention the insane amount the hospitals charge for medical care. Get the point?

You don't have to pay the car rental fee, but you really are liable to pay for it, and could be taken to court to pay the amount. Without a doubt the other party would win, and after paying court fees and possibly even punative damages, you really should just pay for it. After all, it was your fault for hitting the car and they did you a very big favor for not calling the cops and reporting the uninsured driver hitting their car. Just grow up, learn your lesson, and pay the bill.
really more information is needed, did you have insurance on your car did it pay for the damaged to her vehicle.depending on the laws of your state you may or may not be resposible.you need to find out what the law is where your at,quite possibly you could maybe ask the police where you live, about the law.I would not pay untill I was sure I needed too. When and if you decide too pay or not you should draw up a agreement that clears you of all remainig responsibilitys in the future.both of you should sign it
If her car was still being repaired during that time, then yes, you're responsible for a substitute vehicle while it was down/being fixed. If she waited 4 months to get it fixed, what's the problem? Sometimes people can't get their cars in the shop right away. Being responsible for the property damage includes alternate transportation if needed.
You're responsible for a replacement vehicle while hers was in the shop being repaired. Since she didn't have rental car coverage, her insurance isn't coming after you direct. You are only responsible for ';reasonable transportation,'; which would be no more than a standard four-door car, unless there's a specific reason why she would need to rent a larger or more luxurious one. Cowboy Bill is right, you don't have to pay for extra insurance, mileage, or fuel. These will be labeled PAI (Personal Accident Insurance), and DM (damage waiver). You can determine the days needed in the car by calling her insurance and verifying the repair days (we call it down time). 350 dollars is actually not bad for 2 weeks, that's 25/day which means she likely rented a very small car and didn't purchase extra stuff...best of luck. If you don't pay these fees she could take you to smalls claims court...where you may be ordered to pay 350 bucks...plus interest.

Yes unless you bought the insurance from them. They are going to charge your insurance for repairs just like if it was your car. SorryHave rental car, when i was in store someone sliced the bumper. liable?
Yes they will make you pay for your deductible. Call your insurance company and put in the claim. That was vandalism. If you rented the car with an American Express card, they cover your deductible. Visa or MasterCard companies might too. Call them and ask.
Yes they will. You are responsible for everything that happens to the car while it is in your possession.

Unless they have a security camera you should be fine. Who is going to know? Check to see if they have a camera and if not then all is well.
They'll either have security cameras, a night watchman, or someone checking the lot every few hours. They will know the exact minute you return the car. Don't even try it!
You won't get charged. I had to return a car after hours because of the holiday last year and I returned it like 5 hours later. They don't know. Just make sure you drop that key in the box or you will be charged

Driving Europe in a rental car?

I am a Canadian who wants to rent a car and drive through Europe. Is this possible? Are there any restrictions that might prevent me from renting a car in England, and then driving it all over Europe? Any answers will be appreciated.Driving Europe in a rental car?
train is more fun and less risky and locally you can rent a car to see the sights. you can use high speed trains!!!Driving Europe in a rental car?
You need to be over 21 to rent the car (they don't check your credit rating in England, so long as you have a visa compliant credit card because they get paid by the card company regardless of your credit status), I think (but am not certain) that you may need to upgrade your driving permit to an international permit because England has stricter road rules than North America. check with the rental company in advance on this.
It is possible, there are normally no restrictions where you have to drop your car at the major rental companies like Europcar. Only things you have to know: You have to be 21 at least and it is forbidden to go to some eastern european countries with ';better'; cars like limousines.
    No restrictions

Do i need a international drivers licence to drive a rental car in new zealand?

I checked with a New Zealand govt website; it stated that in order to be able to drive in New Zealand, you must:

';have a current and valid* overseas driver licence or international driving permit.

*A current and valid overseas driver licence means that your licence allows you to legally drive in your own country. If you are disqualified from driving or your licence is currently suspended, expired or revoked, then you are not allowed to drive in New Zealand.

Note: if your overseas licence or permit isn't in English, you must carry an accurate translation.

I also checked with AA (a motor club, like AAA, but in New Zealand) They said that a International Drivers Permit is not required for New Zealand, but they recommend it!

Your best bet is to check the specific drivers license requirement for the car rental company that you want to rent from.

If I visted Washington, DC later in life, could I drive my rental car near the White House?

how close could I get to seeing the white house and taking pictures, etc.?If I visted Washington, DC later in life, could I drive my rental car near the White House?
Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House is still closed to public traffic between 15th and 17th Street NW. The closest you can drive by on the north side of the White House is H Street NW, roughly two blocks away and above Lafayette Park.

The U.S. Treasury building and Eisenhower Executive Office Building would pretty much block your view of the White House from the east (15th Street NW) and west (17th Street NW).

You might have a better chance along the south side, The Ellipse, but often it is also blocked to through traffic. If I visted Washington, DC later in life, could I drive my rental car near the White House?
Sure, you can drive on Pennsylvania ave
Fairly sure they open Pennsylvania Ave again. So fairly close.
Pennsylvania Avenue is closed to traffic.

Is there a rental car agency at Albany NY Amtrak station?

Enterprise and Hertz have locations within a mile of the station and both will pick you up. Avis is a little further away.

Avis: 1425 CENTRAL AVENUE (6.16 mi)

    Enterprise: 51 S PEARL ST (0.86 mi)

Hertz: 30 LODGE STREET (0.97 mi)Is there a rental car agency at Albany NY Amtrak station?
I am not sure but if you rent from Enterprise car rental they will pick you up from where ever you are, and deliver you to their rental office and when you drop the car off they will take you back to where ever you need to be.

Any laws/rules: Rental Car Company may refuse to rent to a customer who is has been drinking or seems drunk?

It is illegal to drink drive. The car is the rental companies asset. If they don't want to give you a car for any reason, they don't have to.Any laws/rules: Rental Car Company may refuse to rent to a customer who is has been drinking or seems drunk?
Its called having common sense. I'm sure its in their contract not to rent a vehicle to someone who is not fit to drive.

Although many companies will allow someone to rent a car at 21 (and in some circumstances, 18) the minimum age for additional drivers for most companies is 25.

My XM service shut off on my rental car?

I have a rental car from Thrifty. It came with Satellite radio, but last night, it stopped working. Now all I can get is weather on every channel. Has anyone ever had this? Should I call XM or Thrifty? I just have a feeling neither of them is going to be any help to me. Maybe Yahoo can do betterMy XM service shut off on my rental car?
Looks like free services by XM expired. They are free for 6 month since car bought new and then it is paid subscription. I doubt that rental company will pay for this. so if you need XM get another, newer car.My XM service shut off on my rental car?
i wouldnt really worry about it, but if it is a feature u paid extra for, and it is on the rental receipt, i would call thrifty
yeah sounds like the free subscription is done.

If Thrifty advertised the car as including satellite radio with the rental, I would call them to get it restored, if not your probably out of luck.

  • Do i need to have insurance to drive a rental car across the border into mexico?

Well, yes you need insurance no matter what. If you are renting a car all you need to be worried about is TELLING your renting people what your plans are, then they'll let you know what needs to be done (or paid).

Last time I took a car I just signed papers and it was all included.

see http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/go.鈥?/a>Do i need to have insurance to drive a rental car across the border into mexico?
You don't have to, but if you get in an accident in Mexico your US auto insurance will not cover a vehicle outside of the US. In Mexico you need Mexican auto insurance. You can buy this at the last few exits before entering the Mexican border. It is suggested to get it, otherwise you are driving without insurance. Never know what can happen down there.Do i need to have insurance to drive a rental car across the border into mexico?
Any border towns on the US side will have places that sell Mexican auto insurance. However, check to make sure your rental contract allows you to drive the car into Mexico. Some rentals have GPS units in them and the company can tell where you've been.
autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
Baha travel club san diago dont wait til the border best and cheapest dont go without it
Yes and you may want to read your rental agreement most wont let you drive them out of the country.
